German Auto Service & Sales is a car repair and maintenance service at 5244 N 7th St in Phoenix, AZ. For drivers seeking an alternative to a dealership, the shop offers a local place to bring a vehicle for repair and routine service. Customer feedback reflects a 4.0-star rating across 261 reviews, suggesting a range of experiences rather than a one-size-fits-all impression. The business name refers to German auto service, and reviews specifically mention Audi models, including an Audi Q7 and A4 Cabriolet; the available information does not list particular makes, repairs, or services as specialties.

Several customers describe choosing German Auto Service after looking for an alternative to dealership service or wanting a convenient, ongoing relationship with a repair shop. Reviews mention staff member Tanner as knowledgeable, kind, professional, and reassuring when customers sought help with an Audi diagnosis or an unexpected power-steering issue. These accounts point to the value some customers place on clear communication and a considerate approach, particularly when a vehicle problem feels stressful or when a prior diagnosis has left them uncertain. They are individual customer experiences, not a guarantee that every visit will be the same.

The reviews also include significant criticism. Some customers report dissatisfaction with repair results, costs, or the need to return for additional attention; one reviewer says a tensioner and serpentine-belt repair did not last as expected, while another describes repeated visits for an air-conditioning concern and further charges. Anyone considering service may want to ask what a diagnosis includes, request an estimate before approving work, discuss parts and warranty terms, and clarify what happens if the issue continues. Reading a mix of recent feedback can help set expectations and support an informed decision.

German Auto Service & Sales is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed Saturday and Sunday. Its Phoenix location may be convenient for drivers in and around the city who need weekday car repair or maintenance and prefer to discuss their vehicle directly with a local shop. Because hours, availability, and repair needs can change, contacting the business before visiting is a practical way to confirm that it can assess the specific concern. The available details do not identify a signature dish or a dining atmosphere; for this automotive service, the relevant considerations are location, weekday hours, the work requested, and communication about pricing and repairs.

After getting the runaround from a local Honda dealership with excuses, unexpected costs, and a completely wrong diagnosis, we brought our Audi Q7 to German Auto Repair — and I’m so glad we did. Tanner was outstanding from the very beginning. He was knowledgeable, kind, professional, and truly sympathetic to our situation. He listened to our concerns, treated us with respect, and made us feel like we mattered. By the end of the same day, Tanner and his team had correctly diagnosed the real issue — and it was nothing like what Honda told us. Instead of a nearly $3,000 repair, it turned out to be a simple A/C leak that they fixed that same day for around $350. The relief we felt driving home with ice-cold air conditioning again was huge. It’s rare these days to find a shop that is this honest, efficient, fairly priced, and genuinely cares about the customer. I can’t say enough good things about Tanner and the entire team at German Auto Repair. If you own a German vehicle and want trustworthy service, accurate diagnostics, and fair pricing, I highly recommend them without hesitation.

So, I’ve been going here for my car repair and service for a couple of years. I like building relationships with places I use for services. I started coming here because it is really convenient for me. And I was looking for an alternative to the dealership. First I want to say they really want to do a good job, they value your patronage , and they are nice and friendly. But the problem from my experiences is that they just can’t get the job done in a timely manner or right the first time. Something as simple as my head light burning out. I had to go back 3 times until they decided to just put in a new light. My engine light came on, and after several trips it finally stayed off. My trunk wouldn’t stay open, it would open and then relock before I could open it. That took about 4 visits for them to fix it. I had some oil leaks that needed to be fixed. Got my car a week later. My wife said I needed to find somewhere else. My “service now” message came on. I knew I needed a simple oil change , so because of the convenience, I figured I’d let them do it. I called, made an appointment , and when I arrived , Tanner the service manager said they were really busy, but if I was willing to pick it up late afternoon they’d get it done. So I left it. 4 o’clock I called for the status, and was told they were finishing up and I could come pick it up between 4’30 and 5. I got there about 4:45, and when I walked in Tanner looked at me and said it wasn’t done. It would be ready first thing tomorrow. I asked why he didn’t call to let me know before I came down. He said he hoped it would be done. For my inconvenience he took $100 off the cost, which was nice, but it’s just been non-stop of this kind of thing. So I think I’ve had about enough and with a sad heart I just can’t go back. Anyway, that has been my experience .

My daughter’s A4 Cabriolet experienced an unexpected issue with the power steering. My wife and I reside in Henderson, Nevada and after reading great reviews with German Auto Service I reached out to them and explained the situation. Tanner eased my nerves and said for my daughter to bring in the car. Later that afternoon the team already diagnosed the issue with the steering, performed a vehicle inspection, and came across a failing rear shock. Ryan reached out to me and provided a price for the repairs with lead time for the special order High Pressure hose(which he found OEM) and rear shocks. The vehicle was completed within a few days, upon my daughter picking it up it was washed too! I definitely recommend this team of professionals, especially the technician that took extra care with handling and knowledge around the vehicle.

Had a tensioner and serpentine belt done for almost $600 and it lasted 13 months. Just enough time to not be under warranty. Won’t recommend German Auto to anyone

Do not go here this place is a complete scam. If I can give it 0 stars I would. My air conditioning was not blowing cold air, so I took it here to get looked at. After going there three times they just kept asking for more money. …
