Golden Island Cafe is a well-known dessert shop in San Francisco, CA, serving a broad selection of Hong Kong-style cafe favorites from its location on Noriega Street. At 1300 Noriega St in the Outer Sunset area, this casual spot is a familiar choice for people looking for a sweet finish, a savory snack, or an unhurried place to meet up. With a 4-star rating based on 425 reviews, Golden Island Cafe has become part of many customers' San Francisco food memories, including guests returning after years away and rediscovering it through friends or social media.

Dessert is a central reason to visit, with a notably extensive menu that gives groups plenty to consider. Popular mentions include mango sago and the Mango Deluxe, a chilled combination featuring mochi, boba, sago, and sorbet. Guests also point to almond soup with glutinous rice balls as a satisfying choice that is not overly sweet. These options make Golden Island Cafe a practical stop for diners who enjoy Chinese dessert traditions as well as people curious to try fruit-based, creamy, chewy, and warm dessert combinations in one visit.

The menu is not limited to sweets. Popcorn chicken is among the savory items customers have ordered, making this San Francisco dessert shop useful when a group wants both snacks and dessert at the same table. Reviews describe it as a simple Cantonese-style cafe with a large menu, so visitors can take their time choosing rather than feeling limited to just one kind of treat. The setting is well lit and has plenty of tables, though it can become busy. It works especially well for casual conversations, small friend gatherings, and an easy late-day break after exploring the neighborhood.

Golden Island Cafe is also one of the area options open later than many dessert-focused businesses. It generally opens at 1 PM daily, stays open until 11 PM Sunday through Thursday, and extends to midnight on Friday and Saturday. That schedule makes it a convenient choice for afternoon dessert, an evening snack, or a late-night chat in San Francisco, California. Whether you are revisiting a longtime favorite, sharing mango desserts with friends, or simply looking for a relaxed Hong Kong-style cafe on Noriega Street, Golden Island Cafe offers a straightforward place to sit down, order a variety of items, and enjoy time together.

I came to Golden Island Cafe when I was younger but couldn’t remember where it was in SF. But I recently saw a Tik Tok reviewing this place and it looked familiar which happened to be the place I went to when I was younger. I ordered the popcorn chicken and the mango sago. All the staff members were very kind and welcoming. It’s very cozy inside and has a good amount of seating. If you go later there more people but you don’t wait long. They have a good size menu for snacks and drinks. The popcorn chicken was fresh, good flavor, not too salty and was crunchy on the outside. The mango sago had the perfect amount of mango and wasn’t too sweet. This will definitely be my to go place when I want a snack. If you haven’t been here you should definitely come try it out.

Simple Hong Kong style cafe, plenty of tables around (although they do seem to get busy) and one of the very few options that stay open late! Great spot to grab a little something that won't break the bank, and chat with friends.

Stopped by Golden Island Cafe for dessert. It’s a big Cantonese spot with a huge menu — easily 100–200 items to choose from. I ordered the Mango Deluxe, which comes with mochi, boba, sago, and sorbet. It looked refreshing, but it wasn’t very flavourful.
