Gong cha - Chinatown is a bubble tea store at 917 Arch St in Philadelphia, PA 19107, offering a convenient stop for tea and boba in Philadelphia’s Chinatown area. The shop’s hours are 11:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, and 11:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Its listed rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 254 reviews, giving visitors a useful snapshot of customer feedback while leaving room to form their own impression.
Customers mention drinks such as QQ Passion Fruit and Aiyu, as well as the tea-forward flavor that some visitors appreciate. One reviewer describes the tea flavor as more pronounced than at other bubble tea shops, while another praises the boba-to-drink ratio. These comments may appeal to people who want the tea itself to come through alongside the toppings. Warm drinks are also mentioned as a welcome choice in winter, making the menu worth considering when you are looking for something beyond a cold, refreshing drink. Ask the team for guidance if you are deciding what to order, and check your drink before leaving to make sure it matches your selection.
The experience is geared toward takeaway: a customer notes that there is no indoor seating, so plan on picking up your drink to enjoy elsewhere. That can suit a quick break while exploring Chinatown, a drink to bring back to work, or a convenient stop between errands. One reviewer also reports that the location is wheelchair accessible. Service feedback is mixed: some customers describe helpful interactions and say they would return, while others report long waits around opening time, an incorrect order, or an unhelpful interaction. Experiences can vary, so allow a little flexibility if you are visiting at a particular time or ordering for a group.
For a straightforward visit, Gong cha - Chinatown is a practical option for bubble tea in Philadelphia, especially if you enjoy noticeable tea flavor, boba, or warm drink choices in colder weather. The Arch Street address makes it easy to identify when planning a Chinatown stop, and the extended Friday and Saturday hours may be useful for later visits. Since the shop has no seating, it is best for takeaway rather than settling in for a long visit. Check the posted hours before heading over, communicate any customizations clearly, and confirm your order at pickup. Whether you are a regular Gong cha customer or trying this Philadelphia bubble tea shop for the first time, the customer reviews offer a balanced picture: visitors value the drinks and convenience, but service and timing have not been consistent for everyone.

Today’s experience was extremely disappointing. The store clearly stated that it opens at 11:00 AM, yet customers were left standing outside for more than 10 minutes before the doors were opened. We ordered 5 QQ Passion Fruit drinks and 5 Aiyu drinks, but after returning to our workplace half an hour later, we discovered that none of the passion fruit drink toppings had been added — no pearls and no coconut jelly. We had to make a third trip back to the store just to address the mistake. The only female employee there had a very rude attitude. She aggressively told us that they “don’t sell QQ” and even asked us what “QQ” was. We then pointed directly at the pearls, and only then did she refill the topping. Throughout the entire interaction, she was impatient and unfriendly, even slamming the toppings down on the counter, which felt extremely disrespectful. As paying customers, we were treated as if we owed her something. The service attitude from beginning to end was unacceptable. We definitely will not be coming back for bubble tea again.
One of my favorite boba places. Great boba ratio, and their warm drinks are great in the winter time. Wheelchair accessible.
The saleswoman was very rude and unprofessional. I even asked for advice about the drink, but she stayed silent and didn’t help at all. On top of that, she gave me a different drink than the one I actually ordered. I left upset and without my drink. Very disappointing experience.
So far been there once but I’ll go back. The woman there was helpful. I should have looked at her name tag so I don’t have to just say “the woman”. But good experience so far.
Love gong cha. Like that the tea flavor is so much more profound than other bubble tea shops. The Christmas holiday cup is so cute. Theres no seating inside, just quick service to take away.
