Gong cha-University City is a bubble tea store in Philadelphia, PA, at 3925 Walnut St Ste 136, Philadelphia, PA 19104. It serves tea and boba alongside food options mentioned by customers, including sushi, rolls, poke, and salmon sashimi. For anyone looking for a drink stop that can also work for a snack or a meal, this University City location brings several choices together in one place. Customer feedback gives it a 4.9 rating from 192 reviews, offering a useful snapshot of how visitors have experienced the shop.

Fresh tea and boba are recurring highlights in reviews. One regular says the tea tastes fresh and the boba is consistently satisfying, and visits at least twice a month. Taro milk tea is another customer favorite, described as flavorful and balanced rather than overly sweet or bland. Visitors can also find different impressions of the menu: one reviewer was not taken with the strawberry matcha, citing an artificial-tasting strawberry flavor and clumpy matcha, but strongly praised the matcha waffle. Those varied comments give a more practical picture than a one-size-fits-all promise.

The shop is described as a comfortable place to spend time with friends or settle in to study or work. A midweek visitor found seating available, appreciated the quick service, and said the tea was not too sweet. That account suggests the experience can feel relaxed even when the Gong cha name brings expectations of a busy shop. Seating and service can depend on the timing of a visit, but the customer reports make this location worth considering for a casual meet-up, a study break, or a takeout tea between plans.

Reviews also point to a broader food selection than bubble tea alone. Customers mention sushi, rolls, poke, and salmon sashimi, with one describing the fish as fresh and enjoying the meal as dinner. These are individual customer impressions, not guarantees about every item or visit, but they can help diners decide whether to look beyond the drinks. The matcha waffle earns an especially enthusiastic mention as a dessert option. Together, tea, boba, savory food, and a sweet treat give visitors several ways to shape a stop around their appetite.

Gong cha-University City is open every day, Monday through Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Its address on Walnut Street makes it a clearly located option for people seeking bubble tea in Philadelphia, with customer-reported seating, swift service, and food choices that may suit a longer visit. Whether you are meeting friends, taking a study break, or picking up taro milk tea and boba, the reviews offer specific reasons to consider this University City shop while leaving room for personal taste.

Went to the new opening of this Gong Cha boba place and the experience was great! I ordered their taro milk tea and it was delicious. The flavors are there and it was perfect for me, not to sweet or too bland. The atmosphere is perfect to just hang out with friends or even to go as a study or work area. Would definitely come back again in the near future!

I'd heard Gong Cha could be swamped, but we strolled in midweek and found seating immediately. The teas were exactly what we needed, not too sweet, and the service was swift. It lived up to its popular name, but without the usual chaos I expected.
