Hay Tea is a bubble tea store in San Leandro, California, serving tea drinks and savory snacks at 15251 Hesperian Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94578. For nearby residents, shoppers, and anyone looking for a boba break in San Leandro, Hay Tea offers a convenient stop with a menu that goes beyond familiar milk tea choices. Customer feedback frequently highlights drinks with distinctive flavor combinations and toppings that feel different from those at many other local boba shops.

Tea lovers who enjoy trying something new may appreciate drinks mentioned by customers, including Mango Pomelo Sago with coconut milk, orange lychee with red bean pearls, strawberry smoothies, and brown sugar milk tea. These orders suggest a range that can appeal to fruit tea fans, creamy drink drinkers, and people seeking more dessert-like boba creations. Experiences naturally vary by order: one recent reviewer felt the brown sugar milk tea was sweeter than preferred and that the boba was not as fresh as it had been previously. Guests with specific sweetness or texture preferences may find it helpful to share those preferences when ordering.

Hay Tea is also a practical option when a drink calls for something substantial on the side. Reviewers have ordered popcorn chicken, salt and pepper tofu, cheese bacon fries, and fried tofu with bits of garlic. The popcorn chicken was described as crisp on the outside and tender inside, while the cheese bacon fries were noted for a portion large enough to share. That combination makes this San Leandro bubble tea shop a fitting choice for an afternoon snack, a casual pickup with friends, or a drink-and-food stop before heading home.

The experience described by visitors is casual and service-focused, with several customers calling the staff friendly and helpful. One review also mentioned parking on the street and in the adjacent lot. An earlier COVID-era review described the business as takeout-only at that time, so guests who need seating may wish to confirm current arrangements before visiting. Hay Tea is open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, making it a consistent option for a midday refreshment or early-evening snack.

With a 4-star rating based on 121 reviews, Hay Tea has built a local customer record around creative boba drinks, snackable comfort food, and approachable service. It is especially well suited to San Leandro visitors who want to explore fruit-forward tea combinations, coconut-based treats, and toppings beyond standard boba. Whether stopping in for Mango Pomelo Sago, sharing fries, or choosing a familiar milk tea, guests can expect a menu shaped around easygoing drink-and-snack occasions.

I honestly like the drinks here they are unique for some of them that adds a twist along with some interesting toppings I haven’t seen in other boba stores . had the orange lychee that is good with red bean pearls and ordered the popcorn chicken and salt and pepper tofu , both food was alright but for the price of 9.50 for the chicken I expected more meat not fatty pieces better go to quality like itea for that price . The tofu was good not exactly crunchy but had a more soft tofu texture with Unami flavor both was soggy when I took it home for my siblings to try out

Delicious unique tea drink concoctions. I had the Mango Pomelo Sago, it had coconut milk and it was delicious! I just found the sago a tad too hard but it'll do. The Tofu snack was delicious with tid bits of fried garlic on them. I would definitely go back and try the other drinks.

Decent spot. Got the popcorn chicken and a drink, about 12 dollar, which is not too bad. The popcorn chicken is crispy outside and tender inside. Plenty of parking on the street and the parking lot next to it. Due to COVID, no indoor seating, only to go.

Our first time here.. I didn’t expect that there drinks are awesome.. Staffs are very nice, and very helpful.. We ordered strawberry smoothies and brown sugar milk tea.. We also tried the cheese fries bacon, and i didn’t expect that they gonna give you a big portion.. Food can share for 2-3 people.. We like it because the cheese is perfectly partnered with bacon.. Definitely will go back here and bring my son to try the foods and drinks..

UPDATE: (Nov 19, 2024) I wish they had kept the ingredients 2 years ago. I noticed some changes. Their brown sugar milk tea is too sweet, no matter the level of sweetness you asked. Also, the boba was not warm and fresh anymore. It loses its quality. They usually store it in a kettle to make it warm and fresh, but not anymore. I recently moved from Asia to the USA. One thing I missed in Asia is their Boba milk tea. I tried different Boba milk teas in the USA, and only hay tea had surpassed my taste buds. So, I bought dirty Boba milk tea daily in the Bay Area, CA. Now, I moved to Dallas, TX. I wish they had a branch here in the DFW area.
