Stopped in for a take away order. Fabulous bahn mi! Our server was really nice and welcoming. Wish we could have stayed and eaten in the restaurant. Calm and welcoming. Huge windows looking over the street scene in SF would be great people watching. The patrons all looked happy and enjoying their food. Nice vibe!

You gotta try this spot! I’m Vietnamese, and born in Orange County Little Saigon and they have dishes I grew up on that you can’t find in SF unless you go to the Richmond. Bun Cha Ha Noi comes in small, medium large sizes which is perfect if you want to eat solo or share with a group! Their vermicelli bowls were super yummy too! It definitely meets my cravings for solid comfort Vietnamese food The dining room is modern and airy, I especially love it as a lunch spot

Finally a Vietnamese snail spot that is affordable and not in San Jose! Tried their Canadian sea snails in garlic sauce, which was ~$20. Portions are sizable and the snails are massive and meaty! Excited to come back and order a spread to try more.

It’s rare to find a place serving both bun cha and sea snails. The flavors are solid, but nothing that blew me away. Worth the visit for the unique menu alone.

If I had to describe this place with a simple statement that encompasses it all then I'd would say 'Somewhere in the middle' The food is not bad but also not great. Over the years I had plenty of outstanding Vietnamese food which I can compare with. Here at Hem, each of the three dishes had hints of what they could be but tasted like they were catering with an American taste bud in mind. The best of three dishes was the mango salad. I wish they made the dressing bolder and the spicier. The Bo Luc Lac could use a better quality of beef and certainly a higher heat to sear the meat quicker. Also don't forget the lemon pepper dip .... The place it self is inviting while modern with quick and friendly service. I see lots of potential and hope the chef and kitchen staff embrace their Vietnamese roots to their full potential and let them shine through their dishes.
