Customers describe a practical place to get a haircut, with friendly service, a clean interior, and seating while you wait. For people looking for a straightforward local barber shop in southeast Portland, the location and weekday-and-weekend schedule make it an option to consider. The shop is closed Mondays and open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; checking directly before a visit is sensible if you need to confirm current details.

Haircuts are the focus, and customer feedback points to experience with Asian hair as a particular strength. Reviewers mention getting a cut that works with their hair texture and preferences, including one customer who appreciated not needing to explain how Asian hair behaves. Others describe the barber as practiced, efficient, and attentive. If you have a specific look in mind, bringing a reference photo may help communicate what you want; one regular customer says the barber was able to recreate the style shown in a picture.

The atmosphere comes across as friendly and unpretentious. Customers have praised the owner and staff for being warm and welcoming, and one reviewer notes that the shop is clean and has places to sit. Several reviews emphasize a quick, efficient visit, which may suit someone fitting a haircut into a busy day. As with any barber shop, results and communication can depend on who is available, so it can be useful to describe your preferences clearly before the cut begins.

Value is another recurring point in customer comments. One reviewer recalls paying $10 for a men's haircut, while others say the quality felt worthwhile and that they returned regularly. That price is from a customer review and may not reflect current rates, so ask the shop about pricing before your appointment. Hi Yin Hair Salon has a 4.2-star rating from 29 reviews, offering a snapshot of customer experiences rather than a promise of a particular result.
