If you are looking for a neighborhood auto repair shop in San Francisco, CA, JT's Auto Repair is a practical local option for drivers who want help with everyday car maintenance and repair. Located on Lawton Street in the Outer Sunset, this shop serves people who need straightforward automotive service during the workweek, with hours from Monday through Friday. At JT's Auto Repair, customers come in for services that range from basic maintenance to more involved repair work. Reviews point to common needs such as oil changes, A/C refrigerant service, headlight bulb replacement, suspension-related work, and truck repairs. That mix suggests a shop that handles the kinds of issues many drivers face over time, from quick fixes to mechanical problems that need professional attention. For San Francisco drivers whose vehicles are harder to service at home, even a task that seems simple can be worth leaving to experienced mechanics with the right tools.

What stands out most in customer feedback is that experiences often center on fair pricing, helpful explanations, and the convenience of having a local repair team nearby. Several customers describe staff members taking time to discuss repair costs or explain what the car needed, which can matter a lot when you are trying to make informed decisions about maintenance. There are also reviews that mention quick turnaround for smaller jobs, while others reflect frustration when expectations and results did not fully align. Taken together, the reviews paint a picture of a busy neighborhood shop where many customers appreciate the value and approachability, especially for common repair and maintenance needs.

For drivers in San Francisco who prefer an independent auto repair shop over a large chain, JT's Auto Repair offers a familiar local setting and weekday availability. It may be especially useful for people in the Sunset area who want a nearby mechanic for oil changes, lighting issues, A/C service, or general repairs without going far from home. With a 4.5 rating across 89 reviews, the shop has built a visible local presence, and its location at 3601 Lawton St makes it a convenient option to keep in mind when your car needs attention. Whether you need a small service visit or help diagnosing a larger issue, JT's Auto Repair is part of the everyday automotive support network that many San Francisco drivers rely on.

Normally dont post reviews, but they really had me laughing. Came for an oil change and freeon charge, total was given thought not bad. Came back 2hrs later to pick up my car just to find out it was only an oil change done when I asked for an oil change and freeon charge. The guy at the desk later said oh im sorry I thought you said tires, and apologized and said I'm sorry I didnt hear you I was on the phone. Mind yall I came up first then he answered two phone calls back to back, and had me fill out a paper with the services I wanted, yet he heard and read tires instead of freon charge. Never coming again. And not even pressure added to the tires, jusy a tire check 🙄 RESPONSE: Hey,I get it. At the end of they day if your receptionist Anthony couldn't offer his full attention due to being on the phone after helping me out, he should have said "I am sorry, I will be right with you, either to me or the person on the phone. Hence if he did there wouldn't have been miscommunication. Mind you, he answered two back to back. I bet yall have that on camera too, when I said "do yall have time for an ac recharge and oil change", twice. On the paper order I wrote free on, how does the Free on translate to Tire pressure is beyond me. Regardless thanks, and have a good day🤗 Response: obviously I had the patience, I got the service didn't I? And waited about 10 mins while he was on the other lines with no complaining nor was i told anything from his end in the sense of "im sorry give me a sec or may i help them first? Nothing, so saying that I didnt give him the patience is interesting. Which im sure you have noticed by the camera that yall have placed right on top of Anthony. Bottom line, customer service = trash. Reconsider your services to customers is all I am saying, and like I said HAVE A GOOD DAY!

Horrible service. Took them two days to replace my right controller arm. Not only did they estimate it taking only 2 hours they also replaced the front and not the rear control arm which is what needed to be replaced. $1000 later my car is still broken and has interior stains all over from their unprofessional mechanic wiping grease all over. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY & TIME HERE.

We needed a "simple" headlight bulb replacement as our car's access point is inside the wheel well, and that swap is best left to pros. Very fair price and quick service - thank you kindly!

These guys did me a real solid with my truck repair and I’ll be a customer of their moving forward based on my experience. Story goes: truck breaks down in middle of road on way home from work. Get a tow and look up nearest repair to my house and I’m on a jam. Anthony says they are closing at 6pm but offers to stay a little later to help me out. Tow ends up taking a long time so I drop my keys through the shops mailbox. Next morning Anthony and team diagnosed the problem very quick and give me a fair estimate to replace alternator. They complete the job and turns out repair cost them less than initial quote so ends up costing me $200 less than estimate. The response to my problem, solid work and communication, and the integrity around price is what needs to be shared about JT Auto. I’m grateful I found them in a jam (despite needing auto repair always being lame) and will enthusiastic recommend them to others. Great local business. Thank you, Anthony and team at JT’s- another reason the Outer Sunset is a great community.

I used to bring my car to the Quality auto repair shop on 19th and Kirkham, but they shut down. In search of another auto mechanic, I recently had some work done by these guys. I have to say I was impressed with the service and cost of the repairs. The staff was very helpful in helping me understand the issues with my car and performed the work very quickly. It was nice to know I can call ahead and make an appointment for my repairs if needed too. There were honest and did some extra inspections on the car at no charge to ensure it was running properly. Thank you!
