Kim Son Express is a Vietnamese restaurant at 1101 Elysian Fields Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117, in New Orleans, Louisiana. It offers a local option for Vietnamese food in the city, with customer reviews mentioning pho, vermicelli with lemongrass beef, and banh mi. The restaurant is open every day of the week, Monday through Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., making it a possible choice for lunch or an early dinner. Its location on Elysian Fields Avenue is useful to keep in mind when planning a visit or pickup. The available information does not describe additional services or a full menu, so it is best to check directly with the restaurant for current offerings and ordering details.

Among the dishes customers mention, the vermicelli with lemongrass beef earned an especially enthusiastic review, and one diner also praised the flank steak pho. Banh mi appears in more than one customer account, including a brief story from someone who saw a fellow diner’s mood lift after receiving a sandwich. These comments point to a menu that includes familiar Vietnamese favorites, while individual experiences can vary. One review describes the pho broth as acceptable but raises a concern about the noodles received, and another reports dissatisfaction with a chicken banh mi. For diners deciding what to order, these firsthand accounts offer a useful range of impressions rather than a guarantee that every dish or visit will be the same.

The atmosphere also receives a specific mention: one reviewer liked the lighting and described the place as cool. That detail may appeal to people looking for a casual setting for a meal with a friend, though the available reviews do not provide further information about seating, decor, or noise. Kim Son Express may suit diners who want to explore Vietnamese dishes such as pho, vermicelli, and banh mi in New Orleans, as well as people seeking a convenient weekday lunch or weekend meal. Customers who prefer to compare ordering options may want to confirm prices and dish details before placing an online pickup order, since one reviewer noted a difference between an online price and the price they saw in person.

Kim Son Express has a rating of 3.9 from 16 reviews, and the feedback is mixed. Alongside praise for particular dishes and the restaurant’s lighting, some customers describe incorrect orders, a long wait, limited communication about a problem, or concerns about preparation and value. Those reports are important context for anyone planning a visit, especially when timing matters or an order needs to be precise. The restaurant’s listed hours are 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. daily. For the most current menu, prices, availability, and pickup arrangements, contact the business directly. This gives diners a practical starting point for considering Kim Son Express as a Vietnamese restaurant in New Orleans, while leaving room to form their own impression based on what they order and when they visit.

I ordered online for pickup, and when I came in to pick up, noticed that the pho I ordered was $4.50 less in person than online. I asked about this and they just shrugged. The broth was ok, but the noodles were udon (not the right noodles), …

So I’ve never actually eaten there but when I was in city market eating my almond croissant, there was this girl who was crying at the table. Like crying crying. But then she got her banh mi from Kim Som and stopped crying. So, I’m pretty sure it’s a good banh mi. This is actually unfolding right now in front of me so maybe I’ll get one right now.

Just ordered chicken Bahn mi. I received a rubber sandwich that is inedible. Why do so many cooks in New Orleans struggle with overcooking chicken?
