The Sunrise bread is delightfully soft and fluffy. It paired perfectly with the nutty roasted flavor of the Iced Hojicha! I ate it so quickly I forgot to take a picture.
We got aanpan, everything roll, cheese bread, melon pan roll, red beans square bread, and chocolate custard bread from Komugi cafe. Everything was super delicious. Breads were soft, fresh and warm , the red beans square bread paste just the right amount of sweet, the service just top notch. This has rapidly become our favorite Japanese bakery (and to be honest, any bakery for that matter!). Highly recommended!
This place is amazing! The salt bread (salt and butter roll) is maybe the best I've ever had -- impossibly pillowy and chewy and buttery. The cookie butter version was good too, but I preferred the original without the sweet note. Perfection! We also got the curry bread, which was also very soft with crisp from the breadcrumbs. I haven't had a non deep fried version of karepan before so this was a welcome surprise! The matcha sunrise had a tasty matcha cookie crust, but the bread wasn't my favorite. The hojicha was earthy and good. Komugi has the best bread of any Asian bakery I've tried in the area. I definitely preferred Komugi over Japnonaise. Everything was fresh and had wonderful texture and flavor. I'll definitely be back for the salt bread and to try other items!
Quaint little bakery and cafe! I’ve been dying to have more salt bread in my life, but this place’s hours are a bit wonky. To my surprise, they were open Fourth of July, so I stopped by for some breakfast snacks. …
Wow. I’ve been to a lot of bakeries, not just in Boston, but also Korea and Japan and Komugi’s baked goods are probably one of the best that I’ve had in a while! The French toast is so fluffy and sweet but not too sweet. The matcha was also very good - concentrated flavor where you can actually taste the matcha. Curry pan was also excellent. The filling was seasoned perfectly and didn’t make the bread soggy at all. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their goods! (And the staff was incredibly sweet!!)
