★★★★★ Hidden Gem for Authentic Thai in Beverly Hills! After a luxurious shopping spree at Chanel on Rodeo Drive, we asked the lovely Taiwanese sales associate for a great Asian lunch spot nearby—she enthusiastically recommended La Ong, and wow, it did not disappoint! (I'm especially grateful my wife is Vietnamese; the Chanel associate may not have told us about this place if it wasn't for the Asian connection). La Ong offers a refreshing, casual vibe in the heart of upscale Beverly Hills, just a short walk from Chanel, with surprisingly affordable prices for the area—nothing like the overpriced disappointments elsewhere we had this trip to LA. Service was friendly and accommodating, and the portions were generous. I ordered the Green Curry with Chicken (they happily swapped out the shrimp for extra chicken at no issue). Loaded with fresh Thai basil, eggplant, and string beans, it came served over vermicelli noodles (a nice Vietnamese twist!). The curry was out of this world—rich, aromatic, perfectly spiced, and so flavorful that I literally drank the broth straight from the bowl when I finished. Hands down one of the best I've had. My wife enjoyed a delicious dish as well, and for drinks: she had a fantastic Spicy Margarita with just the right kick, while I went with the classic Thai Iced Tea—creamy, refreshing, and perfectly sweet. Coming off awful, overpriced $30 cocktails the night before at the Boulevard Bar at the Beverly Wilshire (seriously, avoid those—horrible drinks for that price!), these were a welcome reprieve: appropriately priced, well-crafted, and truly succulent. We capped it off with the Mango with Coconut Sticky Rice for dessert—one of the absolute best versions I've had outside of grabbing it fresh from a street vendor in Thailand. Sweet, ripe mango paired perfectly with the warm, creamy sticky rice and coconut drizzle. Pure bliss! If you're in Beverly Hills craving authentic, flavorful Thai without the pretentious markup, La Ong is a must. Perfect post-shopping lunch spot—highly recommend!

Reservation is recommended but we went on a Saturday night, not packed at all. There are meter parkings right in front of the place as well as public parking lot around, but it could be tricky because the public parking is free for 2 hours and the meter parking is 1 hour max. Speaking of the food, sea bass in green curry & the green curry with chicken and shrimp are recommended. They are slightly different even both are green curry. The sea bass one is creamy and savory, not spicy at all, it paired well with the grainy rice. The fish came with crispy skin and was cooked just right. The green curry chicken and shrimp is most authentic and paired well with white rice- not generous on shrimps though since we only got 2 of them. The crab fried rice is acceptable, not greasy but also not impressive, probably not for someone like flavourful food. The grilled quarter chicken- definitely not recommended. The sauce is too sweet and americanised, had nothing to do with any Thai food I have ever tried. Also it's a pity that the mango sticky rice is not available even this is the best season for mango. The thai iced tea was good and authentic but the two tones was a bit bitter than expected. This is a dog friendly place and the service was excellent. Overall speaking, if you don't want to drive to Thai town and you live in LA west, and you're craving for Thai food, this is the place to go, but make careful choices for your food if you want authentic Thai food. I will work on the menu if I was the chef, some items will simply hurt the authenticity of this Thai restaurant, it should not become another fusion place in beverly hills.

The best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to. By far the best. I only tried a few simple dishes, but everything was impressive: We started with the papaya salad, which was divinely delicious. We ordered the pork belly as an appetizer — perfect in every way: crispy, tender inside, perfectly seasoned, and served with a very good homemade sweet and sour sauce. Then we had the green curry with chicken — an absolutely fascinating flavor, extraordinarily delicious. I had never, ever tried a green curry as good as this one. Totally recommended.

We stumbled upon a charming Thai restaurant near Rodeo Drive, though it took us a while to locate it as the sign wasn't very visible. After circling the block a few times, we finally found it, and the food was absolutely worth the search! Plus, the service and ambiance were superb, adding to the overall delightful experience. Must order: crab fried rice!
