This is a nice restaurant for decent Vietnamese meal. I enjoyed the short rib Pho. The others in my party had the La V salad and a shrimp soup 🍲 . We also had bao buns (delicious).
I came after work with a taste for something that would not sit too heavy on my stomach and this was perfect. I ordered the La-v special pho soup. All of the flavors married well, I didn’t even need the extra spice initially. My waitress was pleasant as well. She came and checked on me more than once. Her name began with a M I think (Miriam?) even the hint of cucumber in the water tasted good.
I got the fresh rolls and the bao. They were both fine. They had elements that were really nice, like the fresh rolls shrimp was very tender and sweet and perfectly cooked and high quality tasting. Veggies and herbs fresh, noodles cooked well. But they weren't rolled very well and I felt like they were lacking in variety within the roll. And I didn't love the peanut sauce, it was kind of thin and watery and I'm not used to spicy sauce with fresh rolls. I would have preferred just Hoisin or a richer more more soy sauce forward peanut sauce. Now for the bao buns. The buns themselves were fresh and soft just how I like them, addictingly sweet and pillowy. And I love the cucumber and carrot, it had a sweet sort of dressing within it that it was marinated in I assume and it was so nice. But I got it with the pork belly and the pork belly was not great. The fat was not rendered, and the meat was sort of tough. It might have been lower quality and not cooked right. I give the meal out of 10 a 5 or a 6. I'd rather try some other places nearby then try this again anytime soon. Plus it's quite expensive, it was $25 for just those two little things.
This was my first time here, and I was so impressed! The pho was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for amazing Vietnamese food.
An exceptionally good meal; the flavor combinations were outstanding, the veggies and herbs were fresh, and the meat and seafood were cooked perfectly. I ordered the Sesame Chicken Pot Stickers and the La V Vermicelli Bowl and both were extremely delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, and it felt like they enjoyed working there. I sat outside and never felt forgotten. I told my server how extra good the food was and he said it’s a bunch of Vietnamese grandmothers cooking, so everything that comes out of the kitchen is great. As an added bonus the plating was aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommend this restaurant; if I’m in the city again I would definitely come back!
