One of the main reasons people seek out Latte Express is its bánh mì selection. Customers describe the barbecue chicken sandwich as especially enjoyable, with cilantro, carrots, cucumber, pickled radish, and chicken layered into a French roll that is both soft and crunchy. Latte Express a local family-owned small business located on Kearny Street [between Clay and Commercial near Chinatown and Commercial District] is a popular lunch spot for top-notch Bánh mì, a/k/a “Baguette Vietnamien.” (means "wand, rod, or baton" in French which could also refer to “chopsticks” or “drumsticks.”) The Vietnamese sandwich albeit arguably originated from French baguette during the colonialization era in the 19th and 20th centuries has its own distinctive characterizations, i.e., incorporating the mixture of rice flour, a variety of their own ingredients, such as pickled vegetables (turnip and carrots), fresh cucumber, jalapeno and cilantro, as well as various meats (pork, chicken, or beef). Unlike many other Bánh mì sandwich shops in the City, Latte has my thumbs up 👍:1) freshly baked bread (baguet), crunch but not mushy {❌watch out for outdated bread that likely thrown out by bakeries or sold at discounted prices served at other places❌}; 2) fresh clean ingredients (see pictures) including pickled vegetables, fresh jalapenos and cilantros, as well as quality real MEAT (beef, pork, chicken not just pâté which is quite disgusting); and 3) inexpensive around $12-14 (my choice is #7 combo for $12.) Bon appétit! Cảm ơn!

TLDR: average food with above average price I had the combo of pork banh mi with a viet iced coffee. The iced coffee was too sweet and the sandwich wasn’t very memorable. It wasn’t bad by any means but it didn’t stand out in any way. For the price around $15, I would rather get a poke bowl for the money I spent

The barbecue chicken sandwich is great. Comes with cilantro, carrots, cucumber, pickled radish and chicken. All served on a soft , yet crunchy french roll. This place is not to be missed. Around 11 dollars for a good size sandwich. A deal, and a delicious lunch meal. A few stools to sit on in the windows, or take it to go.

Straight forward service. Store was clean and tidy. Coffee was good. Enjoyed the bagel with sausage and egg over the croissant.

Great breakfast and Vietnamese sandwich shop a block from our hotel. We really enjoyed our pork, chicken and vegetarian sandwiches. Filling and tasty! We got breakfast another day (bacon egg and cheese, and ham egg cheese croissants) which were great. They also have a little case of donuts, plus hot & iced coffee. Perfect spot for a quick and relatively affordable breakfast or lunch! I don’t know if the business hours listed are correct; I stopped by at 7:30am on a Tuesday and they were open.
