I appreciate the diverse selection of international products available in each clearly labeled aisle, along with the reasonable prices and wide variety. The only reason I am awarding four stars is due to a language barrier with many of the employees, which can make it challenging to receive assistance when needed. Aside from that, I particularly enjoy visiting for the delicious pancakes offered on weekends and the fresh fish. However, I have found the quality of the steaks to be consistently low, so I no longer purchase them from this establishment. Although I have recommended them numerous times 👍
If you are looking for something specific from the orient then they probably have it. What an incredible trip through foreign foods this supermarket is! My family and I came out with so much more than we bargained for and several unique dishes that will make their way into our regular meal rotations.
I don’t have any Asian food stores where I live so I was really looking forward to shopping at the Peoria Lee Lee’s store. It was disorganized, many empty shelves, and boxes lying around. I think their other store is better managed. It took me a long time to find items on my list, and I didn’t find everything. H-Mart and Asiana are cleaner and more organized.
If you've never been it is a magical maze of foods. If you are hunting for something in particular, just know it will not be as easy as you think to locate it, despite the fact that the isles are named after the country in which the food is from. If im looking for something like rice paper- there will be multiple places that its located but none will be the same brand. And aside from jamming everything they carry from Pakastan in a huge isle, the isles themselves dont have a clear organization application. What they sell the most of from that particular country will be obvious and grouped together, probably making up 80% of the isle. But if your looking for a fish sauce from Pakastan- odds are the shelf space for that is really, really small so when you cant find condiments because they put fish sauce next to bags of dried fish with shampoo on the other side, you can see how it might not be as easy as you hoped. But again, if you've never been before- youre going to want to walk through a good portion of the store anyway because they really are offering a global supply of grocery and goods in one location. The variety is so extensive that its really quite impressive. Baby lobster claw meat is a must buy. Trust me, youll be impressed with the price- its in the back in a frozen seafood section (because some foods-like chicken- are eaten everywhere and not considered to be from a country.) They are constantly updating the layout too, not sure if its to accommodate new ideas, demand, or for esthetics. But where else can you buy legit sausage meat from Poland and then ube ice cream and jackfruit all in the same place? Fridays and Saturdays they used to have someone peddling hotcakes that they made right in front of you. They were 75 cents each, not sure if they even still sell them but they were awesome. My kids growing up absolutely loved coming here for these, and the morning after many the slumber parties- these stout little pancake disks were always a hit. You could get them filled with coconut pudding, red beans, plain and there was another option but I dont remember it. Also, THE BEST BOBA YOU WILL EVER HAVE IN YOUR LIFE IS IN THE LITTLE SMOOTHY AND SUSHI STAND/RESTURANT. Ive had Boba in 3 different countries, 6 different states, at more than one place and it is always disappointing by comparison. You just cannot beat their drinks..the Boba texture is perfect everytime- not over done but chewy like a gummy bear is- and the frozen drink itself seems to get colder as you drink it. I dont know what voodoo magic that is but its especially impressive when its 115 degrees outside! Just go check it out- make a date out of it with a friend. There's something there for everyone.
They've redone the interior. More stock, very organized 👌! This morning was especially quiet and stress free. Always like coming here. …
