It’s a shame the place is self serve. The only service you will received is them bringing your food. You will need to serve your own water and pick up after yourself. Not to mentioned ordering is by standing. Tip accordingly. Remember the minimum wage is metro Portland is above $15/h. If you’re tipping here. Make sure to also tip McDonalds employees
LELA'S is such a cool spot. I really love the house that it's in and the vibe inside, the service was outstanding as well, and the food was pretty solid. The only reason I went with the 4 stars is that in the pho meat portion was pretty small and the noodles were cut really short, and just didn't have the right bounciness to them. This may totally be a personal preference thing or intentional variation, but it just wasn't my favorite I realized. The broth was great though!
April 2025 Great food, nice atmosphere in an old house; a bit sparse and the chairs could be more comfortable. Order at the front with delivery to your table. Bus your own dishes and get your own water. The simple straightforward menu with reasonable prices and generous servings is wonderful. Most important, the food is tasty and fresh. We enjoyed the flavorful chicken curry, savory pho, and a salad. The salad was good but expensive for its size and a little weird with my choice of lemongrass chicken on top. A side salad would have been a better pick. Recommended!!!
Ordered the Mint Limeade and the chicken pho, and both were delicious! The limeade was flavorful and tangy, and the pho was also super tasty. The atmosphere could use some work, but outside seating was much prettier than indoor. Would recommend!! :D
Taste good, but... I think the way they cut their meats and vegetables could be better. Thick pork, chicken or pork belly in a toasted baguette is little hard to eat when its stuffed with vegetables; Its hard to bit. Then there is the thick cut cucumbers with thick skin in the sandwich and salad roll; it overpowers the whole flavor...aftertaste is cucumber skin to me. If cucumber were somewhat peeled and cut thinner matching the radish and carrots, it would be much nicer in my opinion.
