Live Oak Pharmacy is a neighborhood pharmacy serving Plano, Texas, from its location at 2011 Spring Creek Pkwy, Suite 1500. For people looking for an alternative to large chain pharmacies, it offers a local option for managing prescription needs close to home. With a 4.6-star rating from 162 reviews, Live Oak Pharmacy is part of the everyday healthcare routine for Plano residents who value a more personal pharmacy experience.
Prescription service is at the center of the business. Customers use the pharmacy to fill and continue medications, and reviews often highlight the importance of having prescriptions available on time. Several customers specifically describe staff efforts to help when insurance does not cover a medication, including looking into coupons or promotional savings options. That practical attention can be especially useful for patients navigating regular medications, changing coverage, or out-of-pocket prescription costs.
Live Oak Pharmacy is also noted by customers for convenience, including delivery-related perks mentioned in reviews. Its weekday hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with Saturday service from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; the pharmacy is closed Sunday. These hours make it a practical stop for nearby residents fitting prescription pickup or pharmacy questions around work, school, and weekend errands. Calling ahead with questions about prescription status, insurance, availability, or delivery can help customers plan their visit.
As with any healthcare service, experiences can vary. While many reviewers appreciate the customer-first approach and assistance with medication costs, some reviews describe frustrations involving insurance information, communication, and prescription processing. Patients with time-sensitive or ongoing prescriptions may find it helpful to confirm details directly, particularly when coverage or refill timing is involved. For residents seeking a local Plano pharmacy with prescription support, potential savings guidance, and a community-oriented alternative to big-name chains, Live Oak Pharmacy is a convenient option to consider.

Sign in to reviewThe pharmacy representative was not knowledgeable about the insurance coverage and provided with incorrect information. I had been informed that the prescription would cost $90 without my insurance coverage. I provided my insurance info and the first representative was not helpful navigating the system - another representative jumped in to help and was very patient trying different ways to figure it out (I appreciate his time and help!). Next day, the insurance approved it and I contacted the pharmacy again to pay the bill. The representative said that my prescription would still cost me $90 with my insurance so I inquired the details. She said that the prescription is expensive so even with the coverage, it would cost $100 and if they applied their “coupon,” it would be $90 so they will apply the coupon for me. It didn’t make sense to me so I inquired the cost of the actual prescription without my insurance. She said $1000 with confidence. I requested the breakdown bill and she said I should contact my doctor’s office for the bill. I explained to her that the pharmacy is the one that is billing my insurance and should be able to provide the information. She said she would transfer the call to their “billing department”. The second representative helped clarify that with my insurance, it would be $20. With this experience, I don’t know if I can trust this pharmacy. I am sure that if I hadn’t asked about the details, they would have charged me $90. The only reason that I gave two stars instead of one star is because there were always the second representatives who knew better than the first one.
The “help” I received over the phone just now was so subpar. The woman on the phone barely wanted to help or answer questions and was answering them with one word. Then to my surprise my prescription was canceled, no one ever notified me. Today marks 6 days and I had sent a request through Amazon days ago so that I could get the prescription through there cheaper. Not only was it not acknowledged, I wasn’t even called to be let known that my prescription was cancelled. This is my first impression of this pharmacy and I will gladly not be back.
I switched to Live Oak Pharmacy because of the convenience and delivery perks, but my experience has been frustrating when it actually mattered. I take my medication continuously, which is a very common and prescribed method, and instead of helping resolve an insurance timing issue, the pharmacy repeatedly told me to contact my doctor myself. There was no proactive communication, no updates in the app, and no effort to coordinate with my provider or explain what needed to be fixed. I was left managing the doctor, insurance, and pharmacy on my own just to avoid a lapse in medication. I'm still dealing with it, nothing has been resolved yet. I understand insurance limitations exist, but a pharmacy should be able to assist with basic clarification or at least communicate clearly about next steps. This experience has made what should be a routine refill unnecessarily stressful. I chose this pharmacy for convenience, but reliability and support matter far more, especially for time sensitive medications.
If you’re searching for a pharmacy and are weary of the big-name brands that seem to prioritize profits over customer satisfaction, you might want to consider a place that values each customer as an individual. You might also want to visit Live Oak Pharmacy. The entire staff, including La’nila 💗 and Jackie, are incredibly friendly and always willing to help explain your medication needs. Thanks, Live Oak, for everything you do!
I've tried so many pharmacies over the years and it's difficult to get my medication in stock, on time and without attitude. Live Oak puts their customers first. If my insurance didn't end up covering one of my medications, the staff would coupons or promo codes to make sure that I don't pay more than needed. When my doctor sends in my prescription in the morning, I would call to make sure that they have it in their queue to work on. By 12 pm, it's ready! Of course they can fill it faster if there's some type of urgency. All the staff members are consistent with their quality of great customer service and they're not even getting tipped. I find that pharmacists and pharm-techs are usually really bitter. It's probably not healthy to take it out on the customers. Not Live Oak though. They're super nice! They are efficient as well. They get you in and out without a side of attitude. I've never waited for more than MAYBE 3 mins to get my medication.
