With a 4.8 rating based on 79 reviews, Lombard Beauty Salon has clearly made a strong impression on many customers. Reviews especially highlight Maggie, with clients describing her as friendly and praising the quality of her haircuts. One reviewer said Maggie gave an excellent haircut and would definitely be recommended, while another shared that their family returns during trips to the United States specifically to see her. Feedback like that suggests a salon experience people remember not only for the result, but also for the warm, personal interaction that can make routine grooming feel more comfortable and reliable.
As a beauty salon in San Francisco, this business appears to be a fit for people who value a straightforward neighborhood setting and come in primarily for haircuts. The atmosphere described in reviews feels personal and casual rather than overly formal, with kind stylists and a familiar local feel. It may especially appeal to clients looking for friendly service, returning customers who prefer seeing a stylist they trust, and families who want a dependable stop for regular hair maintenance while in the city.
At the same time, customer feedback also shows that experiences can vary depending on the stylist and the haircut requested. A few reviewers reported uneven cuts, bangs that felt too short, or dissatisfaction with the final shape, particularly when they had more specific expectations for long hair. That mixed detail is useful for new clients: if you have a preferred cutting style, length concern, or particular look in mind, it may help to communicate clearly during your appointment. Reviews suggest that many satisfied customers specifically mention Maggie by name, which may be relevant for those deciding whom to book with.
For anyone browsing Vietnamese-owned and local-friendly businesses in San Francisco, CA, Lombard Beauty Salon stands out as a well-reviewed neighborhood salon with convenient hours, a strong reputation from many customers, and notable appreciation for Maggie’s work. Whether you need a routine trim, a men’s haircut, or a practical salon option in this part of the city, it offers a local choice with plenty of customer feedback to consider. For nearby residents and visitors alike, it is the kind of place people often remember because of the personal service as much as the haircut itself.

Sign in to reviewI'm crying as I'm writing this. If you don't have time to read the rest of my review, I'd take this as a sign to not go. This is the worst haircut I've ever gotten in my life. Today I wanted to go for a more affordable haircut as my usual salon is now out of my budget. Inspired by the movie Materialists, I decided I wanted to get bangs today. I showed the hair stylist the photo of the bangs I wanted-- TWICE and reiterated that I wanted it just like the photo. The first red flag is when I showed the photo of the bangs to her again, she told me she was going to cut it longer as the length in the photo would cover my eyes. Clearly, I'm not getting bangs because I think it's practical for my eyesight, it's a style choice. I told her again that I wanted it as short as the photo (attached). Second red flag-- my hair is parted in the middle as that's how I usually wear it, but I wanted to transition to bangs, so ALL the hair should go in the front. She proceeded to cut my bangs as my hair was still parted. She didn't ever put both sides together to measure it. She left my hair parted in the middle, which is very confusing because I wanted bangs and bangs go in the front, as seen in the photo (or is just typical common knowledge). At some point, I told her to stop cutting because she kept making my bangs worse. After showing me the back of my hair (I wanted some layers), she picks up the scissors AGAIN and continues to cut my bangs. After she was done-- I was mortified and holding back tears. I've never felt so insecure leaving a hair salon and had to hold back tears in the chair. I'm attaching a few photos: the way my hair looked when I left (2 photos, one of each side of my hair), and 1 more photo of what my hair would look like if I were to put it in the front (as bangs are supposed to look). As you can see, my hair is a disaster and looks nothing like the photo I showed her several times. Cherry on top? The price on the website is incorrect. It shows $60 for cut/blowout, it's actually $80. Moral of the story? Avoid this place unless you want the worst haircut of your life.
Maggie gave me an excellent haircut and was super friendly! Can definitely recommend! 🙏
I feel bad leaving poor reviews but just need to warn others - if you’re a person with long hair, who cares about their haircuts, do not let the man here touch your hair. I should’ve known better, but he did a dry cut, cut off too much and it was completely uneven (everything was - overall length wasn’t even, layers weren’t even and bangs were baaad). I had to go to another salon immediately afterwards and get it fixed. He was very nice but I didn’t even want to let him try to fix it because it would’ve been worse. I did hear that Maggie (other person at the salon) does great short hair / men’s haircuts though!
Every time we travel to the USA, our son Sumanth insists on taking his father (my husband) to Maggie for a haircut, and without fail, she works her magic. After each session, my husband has even started capturing his hair's post-cut perfection in photos, proudly displaying them to hairdressers back in India. Maggie's talent is simply remarkable, matched only by her humility and kindness. In all our years, we've never come across someone as gifted and down-to-earth as Maggie. A visit to her is a promise of not just a haircut, but a wonderful experience. As someone who's never felt the urge to write reviews before, I was so moved by Maggie's skill, demeanor, and approach that I had to ask my son if there was a way for me to share this with the world. And here I am, fulfilling that intention at 65.
The hairdressers were really sweet but the cut was just not good. I waited a few days to give my hair some time to settle, but my bangs are still too short (why didn’t she cut longer and then cut shorter as required?) and cut too far along the sides (resulting in an unflattering bowl cut). This place is fine for a trim but I would not recommend for more technical cuts such as men’s cuts or bangs/bobs/etc… basically anything you’re then noticeably stuck with.
