Makola #1 Market is a grocery store at 2425 N Classen Blvd in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, serving shoppers looking for African foods and familiar flavors. Customer reviews describe a well-stocked, welcoming shop and a family business where staff greet visitors and offer personal help. Whether you already know what you need or are exploring ingredients from another food culture, the store offers a local place to browse and ask questions.

Customers mention looking for suya and pepper sauce, including a fried pepper sauce that brought back a flavor they had been craving. In one review, a staff member who did not recognize the exact sauce still helped the shopper find something similar, which turned out to match what they wanted. That kind of practical assistance can be especially useful when you are searching for a particular taste but are unsure of the product name or which item to choose. The reviews point to African grocery items and sauces, but do not establish a complete inventory, so availability may vary.

Service is a recurring theme in customer feedback. Visitors describe staff as friendly, kind, helpful, and knowledgeable, and one shopper says they found everything they came in for. Reviews also highlight the personal feel of a family-run business, including a helpful owner named Naaga and an employee named Hezekiah. These comments suggest a good fit for shoppers who value a warm greeting and a chance to ask for guidance, as well as people from African communities seeking a taste of home. Curious cooks interested in exploring foods from other cultures may also appreciate stopping in.

Makola #1 Market may suit a focused grocery run or a browse for ingredients and flavors you do not typically find at a general supermarket. The welcoming service described by customers can make it easier to explore unfamiliar products without feeling rushed. Reviews give the business an average rating of 4.5 stars from 102 reviews, though individual experiences differ. One customer reported arriving to find the store closed after its listed opening time, so it is sensible to confirm that the shop is open before making a longer drive.

The posted schedule lists Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with Sunday closed. You can find Makola #1 Market at 2425 N Classen Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73106. Omg the customer service is impeccable. I’ve been craving suya and this pepper sauce from a restaurant that closed down. He didn’t know what the sauce was but helped me find SOMETHING and it turned out to taste exactly like what I was craving (fried pepper sauce). He was extremely kind and helpful. It’s definitely a hidden gem. I don’t mean to pit stores against each other but this is the best sticker I’ve been in for African food. None of their products are old and dusty. There is pride in their store that I appreciate. Learned they’ve been open for 18 years and I genuinely see why. Can’t wait to go back! Also he educated me on products. Truly an amazing store.

Your business has to share accurate operating hours. At this point, it’s getting a bit ridiculous. I understand things happen with employees at a small business but this is not the first time I’ve driven 20-25 minutes to come here and you're still closed 30 minutes after opening time.

Good customer service is few and far between at most of our African establishments. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that here! Hezekiah was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. I was able to find everything I was looking for. I can’t speak to their meat or produce selection because I did not purchase those but I believe those are available here as well. Come here if you need any African food items!
