May's Cake House is a bakery at 223 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02111, in Boston, Massachusetts. It is a local option for people looking for Asian-style cakes and bakery items, whether they are planning a birthday, picking up a dessert to share, or hoping to find a familiar favorite. The business is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., according to its listed hours, making it possible to stop by on weekdays or weekends. Its listing shows a 4.6-star rating from 218 reviews, while individual experiences naturally vary.

Birthday cakes are a recurring reason customers mention May's Cake House. Reviewers call out the signature Mango Mousse cake, a Durian half-sheet cake, and a nine-inch Strawberry cake. One customer describes the strawberry cake as light and slightly spongy, with a not-too-sweet taste; another chose a mango mousse cake for a birthday and preferred the fruit topping without writing on it. These details may help customers who enjoy a lighter Asian-style sponge cake or want a fruit-topped centerpiece. Cake styles, flavors, and availability can depend on the day, so contact the bakery directly to confirm the details of a specific order.

Customers also mention ordering cakes on short notice, including one reviewer who said the bakery prepared an order for the following day after a call. That account praised the friendly staff and quick service, and described May's as a dependable choice for birthday cakes over several years. It is an individual experience rather than a guarantee, so anyone arranging a celebration should ask about lead time, size, customization, and pickup when placing an order. The reviews suggest it may suit families, friends, and anyone looking for a cake to mark a birthday without choosing an especially sweet dessert.

Beyond cakes, customer feedback mentions pork buns and steamed buns, as well as plain rice noodles. One reviewer was enthusiastic about the sponge fruit cake and buns, while another reported that rice noodles purchased shortly before closing were cold and stuck together. The comments offer a useful picture of the range customers have encountered, but they do not establish that every item is available every day or that each visit will be the same. Reviews also include a concern about shop cleanliness, so customers may want to assess the current experience for themselves.

May's Cake House is located in Boston's 02111 area and welcomes customers every day during its posted 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. schedule. One reviewer reports that the bakery is cash-only; because payment policies can change, it is sensible to confirm accepted payment methods before visiting. For a birthday cake, a fruit-topped sponge, or a bakery stop while in Boston, checking current selection and ordering details directly can make planning easier. This overview reflects listed business information and customer feedback rather than a promise about specific products or service on a future visit.

Friendly staff and quick service. I’ve been going here for the past 3-4 years and they have never failed me. They were able to make my order the day after I called in. My go-to for ordering birthday cakes are the Durian 1/2 sheet cake and the signature Mango Mousse cake. The cakes here are never too sweet just the way I enjoy my cakes. Since I didn’t want any writing on my cake they decorated with delicious fruits which was awesome.

We came about 10 minutes before close. We got the plain rice noodles. They were in a box on the counter and when we ate them cold and very stuck together. The cleanliness of the shop I would question as well. 3/5 of our party ate the …

Got the Strawberry 9 inch cake as a birthday and I'd definitely get it again! Its a typical asian style cake thats light and slightly spongy. The taste is pretty good and not too sweet. Its December, so the strawberries weren't in season and weren't that sweet, it would likely be a lot better of you got as a summer cake. I did wish they applied a little more cream on the cake as the sides only had a thin layer covering it.

We got the mango mousse cake for a birthday. It came in a big box tied off with ribbon and two little candles taped to the box. We opted for no writing on the cake because we prefer the fruit top. It should be pretty obvious to the birthday …

I purchased a asian sponge fruit cake and it was hands down the best sponge cake we've ever had we also purchased some delicious pork buns and steam buns. Keep in mind this is a cash only bakery.
