Mayflower Bakery is a neighborhood bakery at 1008 Race St in Philadelphia, PA, in the city’s Chinatown. It’s a handy stop for freshly baked buns, rolls, and other pastries, whether you’re looking for a quick snack while exploring the neighborhood or something to take along for later. Customer reviews point to a broad selection of buns and call out the appeal of buying bread while it is still fresh and warm. The shop is open every day of the week, Monday through Sunday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., making it an option for a morning pastry as well as an afternoon treat. Its listed rating is 4.6 from 231 reviews.

The buns are a major draw. Customers mention the pork bun, almond butter bun, coconut cream bun, custard bun, and pineapple bun, each offering a different kind of sweet or savory bite. One reviewer describes the pork bun as generously filled with meat and pleasantly sweet, while others favor coconut cream and custard buns, especially when they come out fresh and warm. Reviews also praise the sweetness of the bakery’s bread as balanced rather than overwhelming. Since freshness matters to many customers, stopping in earlier in the day may be worthwhile if you hope to enjoy a pastry soon after it comes from the oven; availability can vary.

Mayflower Bakery also has sweet choices beyond its buns. Customers recommend Swiss roll cakes and mention almond-flavored baked goods among the options, making the shop suitable for anyone who wants to choose between a soft cake, a filled bun, or a simple snack. Reviews describe a fast, straightforward ordering experience and note that there are plenty of buns to consider. Several of the mentioned pastries were priced under $5 at the time of those reviews, though prices may change. The variety makes Mayflower a practical stop for a solo treat or for picking up a few different items to share.

The setting is casual, with a small seating area, but reviewers often suggest taking pastries to go. That can suit visitors heading back out into Chinatown, people grabbing breakfast on the way to their day, or anyone looking for a quick bakery stop without a long wait. One review reports that the shop accepted cash only, so it may be sensible to bring cash and confirm current payment options before visiting. Mayflower Bakery is located at 1008 Race St, Philadelphia, PA 19107, and is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For warm buns, Swiss rolls, and a convenient Chinatown pastry stop, it offers a simple, locally rooted choice.

Pineapple bun and Swiss roll cakes 5 stars. A small seating area. Better to take your pastries to go though. Cash only. Server was a bit impatient but that is standard for Chinatown I guess.

Mayflower was a random stop but looked like a great option for a quick snack. We didn’t have to wait long to order and there are lots of options for buns! We got the pork bun and the almond butter bun, which are priced under $5 each. The pork bun was so delicious and stuffed with meat, and was sweet and savory! I could eat 5 more of those and call it a meal. The almond butter bun is very soft and buttery (makes sense) and better as a dessert rather than a snack. Great spot for a quick and tasty bite!

Great 菠萝包— very big with a fully covering top crust! The sweetness is just right, and we got the bread when it was still fresh in the morning. Definitely make sure to eat it right away!
