Sign in to reviewIt was fun to visit. Food was good and very fresh but it was a bit too rich for my taste. I couldn’t eat too much of the food I ordered. I did really like their potato chips though. Felt like house made and fresh. Price seemed quite high ($44 for dressed lobster roll, $35 for lobster Mac and cheese) for what it is, but my kids seemed to enjoy it a lot. They loved dipping the potato chip into the soup. The food my kid and I liked the most was $15 crab slider. Very fresh super light and yummy.
The lobster roll was delicious and packed with fresh, tender lobster. You can definitely tell the seafood is high quality, and everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The portions were good, and the casual atmosphere made for a nice dining experience. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. The seafood is excellent, but it can get pretty expensive, especially if you’re ordering lobster and a few additional items. While the quality justifies some of the cost, the overall bill adds up quickly. That said, if you’re craving fresh New England-style seafood, this place is worth a visit. The lobster roll alone is one of the better ones I’ve had in the Bay Area.
New England Lobster Market & Eatery is one of the best seafood stops in the Bay Area, and after eating here, it’s easy to see why they’ve earned Michelin recognition. One of the biggest draws is their whole Maine lobster platter, which is surprisingly affordable at around $20. More importantly, the lobsters are freshly steamed and incredibly fresh. They even have a live lobster market inside the restaurant, and if you prefer to cook at home, you can purchase fresh raw lobsters from the market for an even better value. I’m also a big fan of their fresh-shucked oysters. I paid around $4–$5 per oyster during my visit, which was well worth it for the quality. However, if you come during happy hour, they’re only $1 each, making it one of the best oyster deals you’ll find in the Bay Area. The crab chowder was flavorful and satisfying, while the lobster mac and cheese was loaded with generous chunks of lobster meat. Even if lobster isn’t your thing, the menu offers plenty of other seafood options to choose from. There is ample seating, but parking can be challenging. The restaurant is located in a business district where many spaces are reserved, so arriving early is highly recommended. During peak hours, it’s common to see a line wrapped around the block just to place an order. The service was excellent as well. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. One thing to keep in mind: this is a fresh steamed seafood spot, not a Southern-style seafood boil. Don’t expect heavy seasoning or bold spice blends. Their approach is all about preserving the natural flavor and integrity of the seafood. When the seafood is this fresh, it really doesn’t need much else.
They have live seafood available for selection. The lobster isn't cheap and is priced by weight. Each order comes with bread and potato chips. I'd recommend coming during Happy Hour for better value. The lobster bisque is packed with corn and lobster meat, making it very filling. As for the bucket of shrimp, the portion looks huge, but the bottom two-thirds is actually filled with ice, so the amount of food is quite manageable for one person. There’s parking nearby, so it’s fairly easy to find a spot.
Heading out of the airport back home and ran across this looking for good seafood. What’s really convenient is that it’s about a mile and a half from the airport. We stopped by on a Thursday night and had no problem getting in and getting a table they have inside seating and outside seating, but it was a bit chilly for outside. What was really cool was seeing the live lobsters and crabs in a tanks when you walk in. The prices are very reasonable too for the size of lobsters. I however, chose to have the lobster chowder in a sourdough bowl. I added a side of coleslaw too my work partner went with a 1 pound lobster which once again was a pretty reasonable price. The chowder was really good, but honestly, the bread bowl overpowered it. That sourdough bread was amazing and crunchy and a top they cut out for the bowl was just incredible. Don’t get me wrong. I did like the chowder. I’m a little bit more partial to clam chowder though my partner said he loved the lobster and had a fun time, tearing it apart and didn’t leave a speck of meat on that lobster. I should mention also that I really enjoyed the coleslaw. I come to San Francisco several times a month so I’ll definitely be back to try a lobster next time
