This place is one of our go to places when we crave dim sum. We have not been here for a while now because it's so crowded and we don't want to wait for an hour or more for a table. We got lucky this time or maybe because it was a little later in the day and our wait was only 30 minutes so we were able to get a table and eat. Dim sum is good but a little on the greasy side so make sure to order tea or soft drinks to wash it down. Since it was a late lunch the carts were not being pushed out as frequently so we ordered from the menu. It's still dim sum but much faster ordering through the menu. This is a great option if you know what you want. The wait staff is very quick and efficient. Our orders and requests come out quickly. Makes for a pleasant and enjoyable meal. Now that I know we can join the waitlist in advance, hopefully we will be able to come more often without a long wait.

We have been here a few times now and this most recent time was the best by far! Our server, Thomas, was absolutely incredible. Very attentive, helped us try some new dishes, and was ready for anything my mother needed (even if I thought she was a bit high maintenance 😅) Thank you so much for a great experience! I can’t wait to come back ❤️

Went on a weekday so they didn't have the carts of food out. They give you a sheet of paper with all the food on it and your just mark down how many of each dish you want then they'll take that paper and put the order in. The food was …

Great dim sum and restaurant in the Hong Kong Market plaza. Ocean Palace is your typical Chinese restaurant. Menu is vast and carries practically anything you can think of morning to night. From their dim sum items to their bbq offerings, everything is very tasty. There are always multiple waitstaff that will help you so the service is always on point. Prices are a little higher than smaller restaurants so keep that in mind. I see several reviews complaining about pricing but it's to be expected due to their size and staff. It's a big restaurant with professional chefs and they hold banquets so you can't really compare them to smaller family style restaurants. Overall great experience with food, taste, price and service and I highly recommend for large groups

I have been coming to Ocean Palace for almost 20 years. This restaurant used to be one of the finest places in Houston for dim sum and Chinese food. It was once a place I proudly brought family and friends to. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was very disappointing and concerning. I went with my son and we spent close to $100 on dim sum and other dishes that looked beautiful, but the food — especially the shrimp — was not fresh. Some of it tasted old and unsafe to eat. We could not finish the food, so we took the rest home. I gave some of it to a friend of mine (who does not live with me). Both of us became sick the next day. My friend — who is also my employee — was so ill that he could not even come to work. This tells me clearly that this was not just about bad taste — the food was not safe for consumption. I want to say something important: The service is still excellent. The waitresses are some of the best in Houston — friendly, kind, and professional. The restaurant itself is welcoming and comfortable. But the food quality and freshness have seriously declined, and that is what matters most. To the owner — this is honest advice from a long-time customer: If this continues, people will notice and stop coming. Please go back to your old standards of freshness and food safety. This restaurant once had an excellent reputation, and it can again — but only if the food is handled properly. I am truly disappointed, especially after supporting this place for so many years.
