Onyx Salon is a nail salon in Portland, Oregon, at 2361 NW Westover Rd, Portland, OR 97210. It’s an option for people looking for a manicure or acrylic nails in the city, including customers who value a cozy setting and a nail technician who checks in as the service progresses. A first-time visitor described the salon as lovely and cozy, and said their technician, BB, made sure they liked the shape and look of a simple almond acrylic set along the way. That kind of communication can be helpful when you have a specific result in mind or want to make decisions during your appointment.
Customer feedback points to attention to detail as one of the reasons some visitors return or recommend Onyx Salon. One reviewer, who described being particular about nail shape, praised the service for getting the shape right. Another said the owner and nail technicians listened to what they wanted and called the salon one of the best places in Portland for nails. These experiences suggest Onyx may suit customers who want to discuss their preferences rather than leave every detail unstated. If you’re hoping for nail art, a reviewer recommends requesting a design when booking and bringing a picture for reference. This is practical preparation, not a guarantee that every design or appointment request can be accommodated.
Experiences are not uniform, and the reviews also include criticism of service quality and value. One customer described difficulty getting the requested nail shape and said another technician eventually stepped in; another reviewer reported a very disappointing visit. If you have a particular shape, finish, or occasion in mind, consider explaining your priorities clearly and checking in during the service. The review record is mixed, so it’s sensible to view individual accounts as personal experiences rather than promises about what every appointment will be like. Onyx Salon has a 4.4 rating from 86 reviews, giving prospective customers a broader snapshot alongside the specific comments.
Onyx Salon is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. Its NW Westover Road location is in Portland, making the salon a local choice for customers seeking nail services in the area. The available customer comments mention acrylic nails, nail shape, design requests, and attentive communication; they do not establish a complete service menu, so contact the salon directly to confirm current options, pricing, and appointment availability. For a smoother visit, bring a reference image if you want a particular design and describe the shape you prefer before work begins. Whether you’re considering a straightforward almond acrylic set or have a more specific look in mind, clear expectations can help you and your nail technician decide together what is achievable.

I am obsessed 🤩 this has been the best place in Portland for nails. The owner and nail techs are all wonderful and listen to your desires for perfect nails. If you want to get a design, request it when you make an appointment and bring a picture for reference! One of the best things they do, is placing black gloves on your hands to protect your skin from the LED light! I highly recommend! 😊 (they also have massage chairs for your plus ones to hang out while you get your nails done!)
I usually don’t write reviews but this was the worst experience I’ve had in my 40 years of going to nail salons. I gave it 1 star just to write this review. We thought we’d try this salon because it was close. We both go to different salons, I usually go to max nails in Lake Oswego and she goes to another salon. My daughter called to schedule an appointment for the both of us for the following day, they said they were all booked the next day, but could get us in if we came that same day. It was very short notice and we had dinner plans, but we pushed our dinner out and headed over to the salon. Usually when I have pedicure I’m asked which type of pedicure I want. I always go for the works - wax, hot stone…etc. so either their pedicure is very basic or that’s just how they treated us. My daughter showed the woman how she wanted her nails done and asked if she could do that shape and design, she also told her she was very picky. The lady said, “ good, it’s your nails, you should be.” And she said she had been doing nails many years and could do it, but she did a horrible job to say the least. Nothing like the picture my daughter showed her. When my daughter asked her to do something she ignored my daughter request. When my daughter told her this does not look like the picture I showed you. The women was very rude and told her to go somewhere else, I hadn’t said a word at this point, just in total disbelief. Then the women refused to do my nails because my daughter didn’t like hers. I could elaborate on how incredibly rude this women was but it was just a horrible experience. To make things worse after getting my pedicure done there, my toe became infected. Never has this happened to me. This is why I am writing this review, so no one else has to go through this. I have gone to many salons over the years and I have always been treated as a valued customer, if I didn’t like the outcome, they would do their best to fix it. And they’ve always practiced good hygiene. Not this salon! Please don’t waste your money here.
When you book an appointment at a expensive nail salon you expect them to do a good job however that was not the experience I had. I went to get my nails done for my wedding. The nail tech struggled to file my nails the correct shape so after a while another woman came and took over to show her out to do it. By the time she was done my nails were shorter than I wanted which wasn't the biggest deal. The other girl who didn't really know what she was doing took back over and she didn't file the tops enough so they look like of bubbly. Also when I picked out my nail color swatch which was a rose gold color and she told me that it was color changing and that they would turn silver if I still my hand in hot water, and even though I didn't want silver nails (doesn't match my dress) I agreed that was fine since I wasn't going to be sticking my nails in water at the wedding. However after she painted them I noticed that the opposite was the case, that they would always be silver unless my hands in water. When I told her that, she insisted it was silver from the infrared light told me that it would change to the color I wanted after. so I leave and they stay silver always unless my hands are in water. So on my wedding day, a day where people are constantly looking at your hands, I had ugly horribly done nails in the wrong color. Don't go here, seriously unprofessional, there a much better places to get your nails done for more reasonable pricing
My first time here and I had a wonderful experience. The salon is lovely and cozy! I asked for a simple almond acrylic and my nail tech BB made sure I liked how it was coming along throughout the process. These are the best acrylic nails …
Im aways so skeptical about going to new salons. I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I typically do my own nails because I’m so picky! However Onyx Salon was great!! The nail service was amazing, they paid attention to detail and perfected my shape (which I’m the most picky about) The atmosphere is so comfortable and cozy! And honestly they won me over with the complimentary wine! I will def be back!
