Paul Mitchell The School Tampa is a beauty school in Tampa, Florida, located at 7823 Citrus Park Town Center Mall, Tampa, FL 33625. It offers a setting where guests can receive hair services from student stylists as they develop their skills, with instructors involved in teaching and explaining techniques. Customer feedback describes attentive appointments, friendly interactions, and results guests have been pleased with, while also making clear that experiences can vary. The school has a 4.4-star rating from 751 reviews, offering local visitors a useful snapshot of many customers’ experiences—not a guarantee of any particular result.

Haircuts are a service mentioned by customers, including visits with children. One parent described bringing two boys in for haircuts after walking in on a Wednesday, and said the stylist helped make the experience enjoyable for a child who usually dislikes getting his hair cut. Other reviewers praise student stylists for listening carefully, taking their time, and paying attention to detail. Guests also mention helpful front-desk service, including assistance with appointments and a warm welcome on arrival. These accounts suggest the school may suit people comfortable receiving services in a learning environment, where students practice and instructors can guide their work.

The teaching aspect is part of the guest experience: one reviewer specifically appreciated an instructor’s knowledge and clear explanations of techniques to the student stylist. That combination can be appealing if you value seeing the learning process and want a stylist to hear your preferences. Before a service, explain what you are hoping to achieve, discuss any important details about your hair, and ask how the student and instructor will approach the appointment. This is especially worthwhile if you have textured hair or specific styling needs. One customer reported a very disappointing experience involving textured hair, so it would be sensible to confirm that the team is prepared for your hair type and desired service before booking.

The atmosphere described in reviews is personable and attentive, with customers calling out individual students and staff members for kindness, professionalism, and careful work. As with any beauty school service, appointments are also an opportunity for students to build experience under instruction, so allow time for consultation and the service itself. If you are considering a visit with a child, the positive haircut account may be encouraging, though every guest and appointment is different. Contact the school directly to confirm the service you want, current availability, and any details that matter to you before making the trip.

Paul Mitchell The School Tampa is open Tuesday through Thursday from 9:15 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Monday and Sunday, according to the listed hours. Its location inside Citrus Park Town Center Mall makes it a Tampa option for people seeking student-provided beauty services in a mall setting. For the best fit, arrive with a clear idea of your haircut or styling goals, share your preferences openly, and make sure your hair type and needs are discussed. That preparation can help you decide whether this learning-focused salon experience is right for you.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL IF YOU HAVE TEXTURED HAIR!! This was our first time working with these people, so we came in with an open mind and understood that they are students who are still learning. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We arrived on time for my boyfriend’s appointment, and Denise started working on his 3C textured hair. At first, everything seemed fine. I understood that sectioning could take some time because his hair is thick, but once she started braiding, she struggled almost immediately. The first braid had to be taken out and redone, and the second braid also had to be taken out. We had already been there around two hours with very little progress. Denise also spent a lot of time talking about her personal life and business instead of focusing on his hair. I can’t say this caused the issues, but it felt distracting and unprofessional. Denise then went on lunch, and Emma and Kaelyn took over. They seemed to be trying, but they also struggled with the sectioning. I even have a video showing one of them giving up before another student had to take over. The sections were uneven and wavy, and once they started braiding, the braids looked very puffy. I also had an issue with how the guest policy was handled. I had gone over to my boyfriend several times to check on him, bring him food, and ask if he was okay, and nobody said anything about guests not being allowed in that area. However, when I was speaking to him in Spanish and telling him that if he wasn’t comfortable, we could leave, a blonde employee with a headband suddenly told me that guests weren’t allowed back there. This was confusing because earlier Denise had even asked my boyfriend, “Why didn’t your girlfriend just stay and sit next to you?” I understand having policies, but they should be communicated from the beginning. I also became visibly frustrated after hours of very little progress. I noticed some employees looking at me and appearing to snicker or laugh. I understand my frustration was noticeable, but I believe it was reasonable given the circumstances. The policy said there was a minimum amount of time we had to stay and that we couldn’t leave until the service was finished. After already being there for hours with little progress, this felt unreasonable, especially since he wasn’t receiving a chemical service. The biggest issue was that the students seemed unprepared to work with his 3C textured hair. If they weren’t comfortable working with his hair type, we should have been told upfront instead of wasting five hours. He was still charged the full $45. There also didn’t appear to be a teacher actively supervising. I understand students make mistakes, but there should be someone available to step in when they are struggling, especially with different hair textures. The gel used also seemed unsuitable for his hair. It was very watery and didn’t provide the hold needed for clean, secure braids. We understand this is a cosmetology school and that students are learning. We were never expecting perfection. However, we expected better communication, supervision, and honesty about whether they could properly work with his hair type. I hope the school takes this feedback seriously and improves its training and customer service.

Happened to walk in with my two boys on a Wednesday to inquire about the haircuts. We ended up leaving with both of them having Fresh new haircuts that look great!!! Gabe was awesome!! He was great with my son who is not a huge fan of getting his haircut, but my son really enjoyed it and we will be back to see Gabe in the near future! My other son had Dri and she also was great!! Thanks to you both and hope to see you soon!!

This was my second time going here and every time, the service has been incredible. Starting with Angel, who answered the phone, she’s so sweet and helpful helping me make my appointment! She was even kind when I came in person, remembered my name and who I was. Love Angel<3. Darby was my hair stylist and she does AMAZING!!! She’s done my hair twice now (already booked for another appointment 😅). Darby is thorough and always makes sure I get the outcome I want. She really takes time to make sure she understands what the client wants and I believe that that is so important. She is also just a kind person and the entire appointment felt so comfortable. Emma also came over to help during the appointment and she was nothing but kind as well. Thank you guys for all welcoming me and helping me get the haircut and treatments you guys are amazing!

I am very happy with the haircut Kayla gave me. She’s very personable and really listened to my wishes. The instructor is extremely knowledgeable and does an excellent job of explaining techniques to the student hairdressers.

I had a wonderful experience with Lauren at the Paul Mitchell school and salon. She was very kind, professional, and attentive to what I wanted. I absolutely love how my hair turned out! She took her time, paid attention to every detail, and made sure I was happy with the result. You can tell she truly loves what she does and puts a lot of care into her work. I’m very happy with my hair and would definitely recommend Lauren!
