Pho 39 is a Vietnamese restaurant on N Killingsworth Street in Portland, Oregon, at 714 N Killingsworth St, Portland, OR 97217. It’s a neighborhood option for Vietnamese comfort food, with pho, fresh rolls, vermicelli bowls, and other dishes represented in its menu. Customer feedback highlights flavorful food and a broth that many guests enjoy, while also noting that the experience can vary from visit to visit. Pho 39 has a 4.2-star rating from 403 reviews, offering a helpful snapshot of local customer feedback rather than a guarantee that every dish will suit every preference.

Pho is a central draw, with reviewers mentioning the original pho as well as wonton pho and curry pho as choices that stand out. Guests who like a full-flavored broth may appreciate comments describing it as satisfying and not watered down. Feedback is not entirely uniform: some diners have found the broth thinner on a particular visit, and one reviewer wanted more protein in relation to the broth and noodles. Another guest wished tendon were available. These differing experiences make it useful to consider what you enjoy in a bowl and to ask about available ingredients when ordering.

There are appealing options beyond pho, too. Fresh rolls and a peanut dipping sauce have received mention, though one reviewer found the sauce sweeter than preferred. The BBQ chicken vermicelli bowl was praised for its flavor, and grilled pork ordered as a side was described as delicious. Together, these customer notes suggest a menu with choices for people who want a noodle soup as well as diners looking for grilled meat, rice vermicelli, or a lighter roll. Reviews also describe the selection as extensive, though individual preferences about flavor, portions, and price naturally differ.

The restaurant has been described by a customer as a hole-in-the-wall spot, making it a practical choice for an informal meal rather than a destination based on elaborate atmosphere. It may suit North Portland residents, students, people nearby, and anyone looking for Vietnamese dishes in the neighborhood. Reviewers mention returning to Pho 39 and considering it a go-to local pho stop, while others offer more mixed impressions of broth consistency. Pho 39 is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; it is closed Sunday. If you’re planning a visit, the address is 714 N Killingsworth St in Portland.

The fresh rolls were good but the peanut sauce was a bit too sweet for me. The pho was delicious but the noodle and protein to broth ratio was a bit off. A little too much broth and not enough proteins.

My second favorite pho spot. I remembered I kept coming here when I went to P.C.C. The food has flavor and the broth is never waterdown. The best pho they have and no other pho restaurants havecare the wonton pho and the curry pho. Their original pho is also delicious as well. I would come here again if I'm nearby

Very tasty food at a hole-in-the wall restaurant! I would highly recommend their BBQ chicken vermicelli bowl and found the flavor profile to be highly satisfying and authentic. Overall, they offer an extensive Vietnamese menu, prices may be a bit on the higher side but it's worth what you get. The place is pretty clean with interesting decor, and service is efficient and not disruptive. Definitely recommendable.

Sometimes the pho here is amazing and sometimes the broth tastes super watery. They definitely don’t plug it on the meat. Hit or miss.

Thankfully, the Pho here is really good; however, I wish that they had tendon. I ordered a side of grilled pork to go with my meal, and it was delicious. This is my new go-to "North Portland" spot... You need to eat here!!!
