Pho is a central reason diners visit, and customer comments describe generous portions and a range of flavors. Pho ga, or chicken pho, and pho with shrimp—ordered grilled by one reviewer—are among the specific dishes guests have tried. The meal can come with jalapeños, lime, bean sprouts, Sriracha, and hoisin sauce, letting diners adjust the bowl to their taste. Some guests appreciate the broth’s more subtle flavor, while others have found it less satisfying than pho elsewhere in the area. That range of opinions is worth keeping in mind if you have a particular broth style in mind. Portions are frequently described as ample, so arriving hungry or sharing a dish may suit your plans.

The menu also includes options beyond soup. Reviewers mention shaken beef and cơm sườn chả, a rice plate with pork chop and egg cake; availability can vary, as one diner found that shredded pork was unavailable during their visit. Feedback about preparation and wait times is mixed: some customers praise flavorful food and a positive experience, while others report a dish that was overcooked or a longer-than-expected wait. A 4.2-star rating from 293 reviews offers one snapshot of customer feedback, but individual visits may differ. If timing matters, consider allowing extra time during your meal.

Inside, guests describe a neat, old-school Vietnamese-style setting with greenery and a fish tank, giving the dining room a homey, casual feel. Reviews also include kind service, alongside experiences described as simply decent, so expectations are best kept grounded. Phở Bằng Restaurant may suit locals and visitors seeking a generous bowl of pho, a Vietnamese rice plate, or an informal meal in New Orleans East. It can also work for takeout, with one customer noting that their pho arrived with plenty of garnishes and sauces. First time visit, super nice service, food is in super huge portion with lots of flavors, only charge almost half price compare to others in Nola area. Restaurant is very neat with old school Vietnamese style, around with fish tank and lots of greens/plants, I love this place, will definitely set as my regular visit spot. We ordered three meals, sharing in between 2 adults and 2 kids, struggling to finish 2 and left 1 whole meal pack to go🤣 There Vietnamese coffee is awesome too, very rich, and the lady is very nice to ask how sweet we want ahead, and checking on us if taste good enough. Their business hour is from 8 to 6, wondering if they have variety of Vietnamese breakfast available?

Quality has definitely improved since last visit! However, Dong Phuong’s pho still tops the list. The broth here has a much subtle flavor. Good portions though. …

The food is ok. I ordered com suong cha (they were out of bi, shredded pork). It was decent. My mom ordered pho and couldn’t finish it. She said it didn’t taste good at all. Service was decent. We were one of 2 tables in the restaurant on a Sunday. It’ll do in a pinch but this area really doesn’t have anything good anymore.

Ordered Pho Ga and Pho Tom Luoc/ Nuong with grilled shrimp to go. It was absolutely delicious. The portions are a great size and they give you plenty jalapeños, lines, bean sprouts, Sriracha and Hoisin sauce.
