Pho South Corner embodies everything great about about a local, low-key spot with kind owners and great service. We enjoyed a very pleasant meal that was reasonably priced, tasted like comfort food, and would be very easy to return to! The interior is very casual but cute with lots of tables. We were also pleasantly surprised that they had the world cup game playing which was fun to watch. We started with the veggie spring rolls, which had great flavor and the slightly pickled veggies it came with were cooling and added nice contrast. The rolls were certainly a bit oily, but enjoyable nonetheless. I thoroughly enjoyed the broken rice special, a big comforting platter of nicely grilled pork, rice, egg, noodles, and some veg. It also came with some sort of slice of meat/grain loaf which, I still don't really know what it is and I have never had something like it, but it was pretty tasty! I would have enjoyed a bit more of the sauce that the dish came with, but it was simple and delicious and seems like a reliable plate for when you're hungry. My wife ordered the pho which was solid as well. It had a nicely spiced broth with good portions, though it was just a touch sweet maybe. The highlight honestly wasn't the food, though it was very good, but I just really appreciated the kindness and hospitality from the owners. The one that took care of us was attentive, helpful, brought us things when he noticed they were needed, and helped explain some of our questions. It makes me want to return. Overall I would recommend this as an easy choice for a solid Vietnamese meal with lots of choices and variety!
Truly delicious and amazing service! I had a tasty smoothy, and the chicken pho was sooo good! Very generous portion with lots of dark meat chicken :) the people working there were also so kind
Though I can’t say I’m a bahn mi expert, I had the best bahn mi of my life here. I ordered the beef bahn mi (asked for lemongrass beef) which was fantastic and dripping in a buttery sauce. My partner ordered the beef vermicelli bowl (which he describes as “perfect”). Our server was lovely and attentive, and helped me choose a bubble tea for dessert. We left with happy hearts and full stomachs.
One of the best Bahn Mi’s I’ve ever had. It’s up there with the best in philly. The pork skin rolls are also excellent!
I came into Philly with a friend and no particular plans so when we found parking on South Street right outside this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. I'm all about trying new things and I've never had Pho so I chose the top round beef. We had beef fried rice, chicken dumplings, and veggie spring rolls for apps. Everything was cooked fresh and was hot and so tasty. The portions are so large that you can take them home for another meal! The servers are polite and do not rush you at all. My friend and I spent 3 hours talking and enjoying our meals. We had such a nice time that we forgot about parking and got a ticket 😆 I would recommend this restaurant for tasty, fresh food!
