Perhaps the best ca kho to clay pot fish I’ve had in America. Generous portions & great prices. Papaya salad was very good as well. Skip the salted lemon drinks though; they weren’t my favorite
TDLR: Nice staff, ok food. Will not be returning and would not recommend. The resounding response from my Vietnamese parents was “just ok, not bad”. Average rating from my family: 5.5. Growing up we visited many Vietnamese restaurants, I was happy to see another Vietnamese place with such a huge menu. We ordered classic pho and banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake with shrimp and pork belly). Although the broth was mildly flavored, it felt like the pho meat was lacking. The pho tai (rare steak) meat felt loose and not fresh, the texture was chewy. The filet mignon was a hit with my dad since it was different! We did like the spring roll and peanut sauce and the tran muoi (lemon soda)! We visited at 6:30pm on a Saturday. It was lively inside, bright and open and we were seated immediately. Our server was sweet and spoke Vietnamese to my parents. The other staff was helpful in bringing out our dishes.
How you think it’s ok to give people sink water? At least, have a the decency to get filter water. It’s not that expensive. Give the customer good eating experience. Good food and then you open water bottle and it’s stink.
The concept of this meal is amazing but for me the broth was on the sweeter side even after my siracha and housin sauce add, or maybe something I added made it sweet I’m not sure. But it was a good experience. Warmed me up after an Eagles Game and right in the area. Had on site parking and no wait time. The lemonade was delicious. I did not finish my food the portion was massive I ate it for 2 days that was great!
Food: Bun Bo Hue, Combination Today Rice Plate, Fish Sauce Wings, Pork and Shrimp Spring Rolls🍜 Comments: Everything was very delicious. The rice plates was good and pork chop was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Chicken wings was a bit dry but the taste was good. Bun Bo hue was spicy but it had a lot of flavor and a lot of meat which was surprising. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. And they had a lot of parking which was a big plus for Philly. Overall would recommend this place for quality Vietnamese food in Philly.
