Quack’s used to be one of the best bakeries in Austin, but since COVID it seems to have gone downhill year after year. What was once a warm, inviting neighborhood café where you could sit and enjoy a coffee and pastry now feels cold and unwelcoming after they removed all of the indoor seating. Unfortunately, the customer service hasn’t improved either. The staff often comes across as unfriendly and when I recently called to order a birthday cake and cupcakes for my friends birthday, the employee I spoke with was extremely rude. I decided to take my business elsewhere. The only time I think it’s worth visiting is during the last hour before closing when the pastries are half price. Otherwise, I’d skip it. It’s really disappointing because Quack’s is an Austin institution and I hate seeing such a beloved local spot lose what made it so special.

Nice folks behind the counter with plenty of pastry and drink options available. The\nChamomile was fantastic and of the three pastries that I tried today , I did try the raspberry rose pop tart, which I thought was going to be a little bit too much because floral things in sweets can dominate sometimes , but this was perfectly balanced and the texture was fantastic. The other two things that I ordered was the salty oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and the blueberry danish , which both look heavenly as can be. I would say if I'm back near the area and I have the time.I'll definitely come back here

Quack's 43rd Street Bakery is an absolute Austin institution and one of the most charming and delicious bakeries I have ever visited. The baked goods are outstanding with an incredible variety of pastries, cakes, cookies, and breads that are all made fresh with so much care and love. Every single item I have tried has been absolutely wonderful and full of flavor. The cozy and eclectic atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to sit down with a coffee and a treat and enjoy some quiet time. The staff is always warm and welcoming and you immediately feel like a regular from your very first visit. Quack's is a true Austin treasure that I would recommend to absolutely everyone.

The cakes were so good I was halfway through before deciding to take pictures. The chocolate cake was decadent, dark, delicious, but somehow not overly rich. The perfect Matilda cake. Definitely the best I've had in Austin. The key lime pie was also to-die-for. Super tangy, but gorgeously buttery and rich to balance the acidity. The carrot cake slice was good as well, though not on the same level as the other two for me. The frosting was perfect, and the crumb was moist, but I'm not a fan of the shredded carrot bits that were present. That might just be a personal preference. It was still a solid 8.5/10. The others were just 10/10.
