Sign in to reviewJing was incredible, definitely the best massage I’ve had in a while. I did the deep tissue massage and the pressure was perfect given some tightness in my shoulders. Great communication throughout the massage. The warm table also adds to the relaxation. Will definitely be back and buy a package since this is so close to my apartment.
Never thought I’d be giving a local business a poor review, but we had a truly bad experience here. My boyfriend and I came in for a couples massage and they had us in the room closest to the receptionist. From this room, you can clearly hear the receptionist making and answering calls and the loud front door ringing. In addition, the two masseuses talked a lot throughout our massage. My masseuse left for five minutes during the massage to get towels, and while I appreciate her letting me know, we could hear her talking loudly outside the room. It was clear that she wasn’t just getting towels, but running other errands as well. The room was also surprisingly bright for a massage room, and had those green laser lights which ?? was distracting, and again, not relaxing. The massage itself was fine, but with all these distractions, my boyfriend and I agreed that we couldn’t enjoy it. We still tipped almost 15%, and the masseuse looked at us and told us that people typically tip 20%. We said we understood, but due to the noise we were not tipping more. She doubled down, saying that nobody talked during our massage. If they had acknowledged that the room was loud and there were things they could do to provide a calmer environment, I would return. But asking for more tip and insisting that they didn’t talk was weird. Won’t be coming back, and don’t recommend.
Good massage ruined by terrible management. I called on the phone to ask about availability and pricing. The price that was quoted to me was $75. I get to the spa and reconfirm the price with the massage therapist (again, quoted $75). The massage itself was good. The therapist did a nice job massaging my back and loosening all my knots. However, when she was finished, I went up to the front desk to pay with the manager (a different lady). She first tried to up-charge me to $85, saying that was the actual in-store price. After stating multiple times that I was only quoted $75 until then, she tried to compromise by saying she'd meet me in the middle. I was firm with $75, and she finally relented. I wanted to add a 17% tip since the therapist did a good job. However, the manager tried to fight me over this tip and increase it, saying it wasn't good enough. I firmly stuck with my tip amount, but she wouldn't enter my card in and continued to fight with me over it, saying she'd already given me a discount from $85 to $75 (again, not true—this is the price I was told). It took a lot of back-and-forth to finally get her to put in the tip amount I'd requested. Overall, the end really ruined this experience for me, and I will not be returning to this establishment.
Really glad I found Richmond Serenity Spa on Balboa Street. Jing was friendly, attentive, and clearly very skilled. I came in with neck and shoulder tension, and she noticed exactly what was going on right away. I left feeling much better and more relaxed. I’ve tried a lot of massage places in San Francisco and it’s often hit or miss. This was definitely a hit. I’ll be coming back.
Great deep tissue 60min experience. This was my second time coming here and I’m glad I did. They were very accommodating me as I was dropped off earlier than my appt. They had one woman start then switched when the other woman was available. One gave me a wonderful scalp massage and the other had great technique. Would recommend to anyone in the city. Also, they give $10 off if you make an appt before noon.
