Some customers describe frustration with rate adjustments, notice periods, and being transferred between departments. Because insurance is a service built on trust and clarity, these experiences may be especially relevant for anyone deciding between providers in Santa Ana, California.
For that reason, Safeco Insurance may be best approached by customers who prefer to ask detailed questions up front and carefully review policy terms, coverage conditions, payment authorizations, and renewal details before moving forward. Taking time to understand those details can make it easier to judge whether this office matches your expectations for responsiveness and service.
Overall, Safeco Insurance is a known insurance name with a Santa Ana location and broad weekly hours, which may make it visible to local shoppers looking for coverage support nearby. At the same time, the low review score means many consumers will likely want to do careful research before choosing this provider. For people in Santa Ana, CA who value convenience, direct questions, and side-by-side comparison when selecting an insurance company, Safeco Insurance is one option to evaluate with close attention to service experience as well as coverage needs.

Sign in to reviewHorrible experience, after purchasing our first home they gave us a couple weeks to make $18,000 home improvements otherwise our they would cancel our home insurance. We made the home improvements and at the end of it all they still didn’t approve us so at the time we had to switch to State Farm. We still had auto insurance with them and they cancelled our auto insurance with no notice because according to them we had a third person living in our house when it was just my wife and I. We also switched to State Farm and are having no issues ever since.
This company is owned by libetty mutual. If you have lib mutual homeowners and you switch to safeco car insurance from lib mutual car ins you loose your multiple policy doscount. They neglect to tell you this. When you bring it up they tell you that they are independant companies yet when you call them they ask if you are calling about your safeco or lib mitual policy. When you try to cancell the safeco policy its damn near impossible, you get placed on hold foreveror hung up on or the app tells you the cancell feature isnt available yet. Yet they can grab money from your bank account charging you for people who are living in your home but NOT using your vehicle. Stay away from these 2 companies unless you want to be shamelessly ripped off
Stole money from my bank account without my knowledge. Almost $400 just like that. Jacked my rates overnight because they re-classified my vehicle and went into my account and took the difference. Absolutely no communication from them at all. Then just to add salt to my wounds the "customer service agent" hung up on me mid sentence. She had my info, we were mid discussion. Why not call me back? The same policy through Progressive is a fraction of the cost so we canceled immediately with Safeco and expected a refund but instead met with another bill. How is this possible? How can they just jack the rates overnight like that? Claims are awful too. They just pick apart your vehicle for months and try to find something to make sure liability is not on them. Then deny your claim and send your vehicle back to you even more damaged then when it began. At the end of the day big companies like this do not care about a single customer as there will always be someone to replace you. Customer service has become Consumer Service and that is even a strecth. Basically you owe us so pay up and shut up. Thanks alot.
I was disappointed with the service provided by this insurance company. Their agent visited our home without prior notice, and the interaction was unpleasant and unprofessional. Surprisingly, our insurance was subsequently canceled due to 'debris in the yard,' despite the fact that the amount of debris was actually less than when we purchased the home and is minimal compared to our neighbors.' I would advise caution when considering this company for your insurance needs.
We haven’t had an issue with Safeco until we had a claim. They delay the process, they transfer you to different departments and no one wants to work, and they low ball you. Everyone whom I have spoken to with Liberty or Safeco have had the same run around. The representative I have at Safeco is incredibly rude, is never “available” to talk and has not made this process easy or manageable WHAT SO EVER. We will be shopping for a new insurance provider as soon as this tornado damage mess is over. DO NOT GO WITH SAFECO.
