For celebrations, the bakery may be a helpful place to ask about a custom cake. These comments may be useful to shoppers looking for a neighborhood grocery stop where they can take care of several routine errands in one place.

The customer feedback is not uniformly positive. Some reviewers have raised concerns about interactions in the hot food area and with a Drive Up & Go delivery to the parking lot. Another reviewer objected to how a small cash balance was handled at checkout. These reports describe individual experiences, but they are relevant context for customers who value attentive service and clear payment practices. Safeway’s overall rating reflects varied feedback, so a visit may differ depending on the service area and the day.

This Portland grocery store may suit local residents shopping for everyday food, customers looking for a birthday cake, and people who appreciate having a pharmacy and self-checkout available at the same location. The bakery, hot food section, and Drive Up & Go are also mentioned in customer reviews, though specific availability and service details can change. At 4515 SE Woodstock Blvd, Safeway offers a practical option for grocery shopping in southeast Portland, with customer feedback that highlights both helpful experiences and areas where service may be inconsistent.

Look. I get it, pennies are a pain to deal with, and companies can decide not to. That's fine. But the only ethical way to do so is ROUND YOUR FINAL PRICE DOWN TO THE NICKEL or dime or dollar or whatever you dont want to deal with. You cannot increase my cost by even a penny just because you can't be bothered to have change at the same granularity as your prices. Safeway controls its prices, checkouts, and cash policy. If it wants to avoid pennies it can, but I can't believe it is legal for them to do so by literally short changing customers. If the tag says $1.99 then the price is $1.99 not $2.00. If the price is $2.00 then you can't label it $1.99. Just label it $2 and you dont have to give me a penny, but if you want to keep those .99 prices then you better stock up on pennies. Or just give me a nickel. One more reason to avoid Safeway when possible.

Great location with a clean, welcoming environment. The employees managed to be incredibly helpful without coming across too noisy or "overbearing". Great selection of food with a nearly overstocked inventory! Additionally, both my experience in the pharmacy and with self check-out were met with direct, respectful and quick assistance. Even the security protocols (with the one-way automatic gates, locking carts and front-door security) lacked the cumbersome and somewhat degrading invasiveness which I find to be present at other locations. While the prices aren't the best, they are no worse and the deals exist no less than at other Safeway's. Great place, definitely recommend!

I love coming here but recently an older gentleman is in the hot food section with a nastyyyy attitude whenever you ask for anything... I worked at safeway before lots of customer engagement needed, so no need to be that rude especially in the food department where constant interaction is going to be happening. The sandwich making section needs to be deep cleaned and ingredients need to be date checked! The produce was limp soggy while they made my sandwich, i was peaking through glass and saw the date on the cheese being used was past expired date... please have that area deep cleaned saw old food in crevices! I used to love getting fresh sandwiches but feels like a bother and just unsanitary. Like i said we come here frequently but the service is always up and down. Well today self checkout question my husband way too hard over his ID making him incredibly uncomfortable and raising his ID to compare his face then asked why it was slighlty peeling he explained and she still made comments he even said if you dont want to sell me the beer its fine and she still kept dragging it. Security was edging closer as if my husband was in the wrong very strange interaction! Self Checkout made odd comments before but we just brush it off. I really dislike leaving bad reviews but when i feel the establishment makes me feel unwanted i have to be honest.

This review applies only to the nasty and rude woman, Tia, who delivers Drive Up & Go to the parking lot. Her disdain for her customers is BEYOND contempt. Just so nasty, mean and rude from the get go. Shocking, honestly! I’ve complained about her behavior twice before, to no avail, obviously. I’ve used Drive Up & Go at this location for years. I’ve had it with this treatment and will never go there again. I’d rather go out of my way to a further away store to avoid being treated like that. EVERYONE I’ve dealt with there have gone out of their way to be kind and polite. This woman doesn’t even know how to behave like a decent human being.
