Its Berkeley, CA 94709 address places it within the city for residents, students, families, and others organizing everyday medication care. The listed counter hours are 9:00 AM to 1:45 PM Monday through Saturday, with Sunday hours from 10:00 AM to 1:45 PM. Calling ahead where possible can also help ensure the pharmacy can address a particular need before the counter closes.
Prescription filling, prescription transfers, and COVID vaccination appointments are the services most clearly reflected in customer feedback for Safeway Pharmacy. One reviewer describes making a COVID vaccine appointment, checking in at the front desk, and receiving the vaccine on time from a staff member they found kind and professional. For people seeking a Berkeley pharmacy that may handle scheduled immunizations as well as medication needs, this is a useful point of reference. Vaccination types, appointment availability, insurance details, and prescription-processing requirements can change, so it is wise to confirm the current service and any needed information before your visit. This extra step can be especially valuable when care depends on a specific date, refill, or documentation.
The atmosphere suggested by the reviews is practical and service-focused, with experiences that can vary considerably depending on timing and the reason for the visit. Safeway Pharmacy has a 3.3 rating based on 26 reviews. Alongside the positive account of an organized vaccine appointment, several reviewers describe problems getting help by phone: calls disconnected while waiting, voicemail reported as full, long holds, and no response after messages about a prescription transfer. Other feedback cites waiting and staff interactions that customers found discouraging. These reports make clear that communication has been a concern for some visitors. They do not establish every visit will be the same, but they provide useful context for a customer choosing how to contact the location.
For customers who can visit during listed hours, have an appointment confirmed, or can address a question in person, Safeway Pharmacy in Berkeley, CA may be a convenient local option for planned pharmacy errands. It can be particularly relevant for routine prescription pickup, arranging a transfer, or checking on an appointment, provided there is adequate time to coordinate. Anyone managing a time-sensitive medication, needing transfer confirmation, or trying to reach the pharmacy by phone may want to allow extra time and verify details before depending on the visit. The combination of fixed morning-to-early-afternoon hours and mixed communication feedback means advance planning is more important than spontaneity. This transparent mix of feedback helps Berkeley shoppers choose the pharmacy with realistic expectations and the information needed for a smoother experience.

Sign in to reviewCalled to have prescription filled 4 times. Ist time disconnected while waiting to speak to pharmacist. Second time connected to voicemail which was full. Third time disconnected again. Fourth time on hold again for long time and finally, I gave up. Similar incidents every time I've called in the past. Very frustrating. Still need prescription!
got a Covid vaccine at the Safeway Pharmacy in early October and I was really pleased. I made an appointment; the front desk checked my information, and I got my Covid vaccine on time from Navjot, who was really nice and did a great job. Thank you!
Rude staff who act like they are doing you a big favor when they fill a prescription. Even if no one else is in line, they will make you wait while they chat amongst themselves, and take their sweet time to help you (except for one pharmacy tech who is pleasant). Expect to wait a long time to get a vaccine, even if you have an appointment. In fact, don't bother to make an appointment because they just ignore appointment times and do it on a first-come first-serve basis. I generally have to wait 30-45 minutes past my appointment time before receiving a vaccine. They are generally rude and unhelpful and it makes me dread when I have to get my prescriptions filled.
I hate being beholden to a pharmacy, but I need my meds, so it gives the pharmacy a degree of power over me that is often wielded in a punitive manner. To be fair, it's really just one pharmacist--the female Caucasian pharmacist--that seems to relish exercising this power. For example, I've been there 15 minutes before closing, but been turned away because my transaction would "take too long". Or she will insist on seeing my physical ID, despite none of the other staff--whom recognize me as a regular--having such a requirement. The rest of the staff is friendly and helpful.
I had my prescription transferred to this location for the first time. I tried calling several times to confirm they received the information. I called 5 times and left a voicemail. I never received a response. I started getting sick without my medication. I do NOT recommend this place!!!!!
