Saigon Market is an Asian grocery store at 1111 NE 82nd Ave in Portland, Oregon (97220). It is a small neighborhood shop with a notably broad assortment, according to customers who describe finding a little of everything in its compact space. For shoppers looking for Asian grocery items in Portland, the store offers a convenient place to browse, ask questions, and discover products alongside a distinctive connection to Vietnamese culture. Customer reviews mention decor that brings a piece of Vietnam into the shop, giving the market a personal feel beyond a simple stop for pantry supplies. Its location on NE 82nd Avenue makes it a practical option for people in the area who want to explore a locally rooted market.
The selection is one reason customers return. Reviews describe a good assortment packed into a tiny shop, and one shopper says the market has “anything and everything” they needed. Balut eggs are specifically mentioned as a favorite, while kimchi has also drawn interest from customers who have heard positive recommendations about it. Availability can vary: one reviewer reported visiting several times without finding kimchi in stock, so it may be worth asking the owner about current availability before making a special trip. The store is not a fresh-meat market; a customer notes that fresh meat is not stocked there and suggests visiting a larger shop for that category. This detail can help shoppers plan their errands and set expectations about what the compact store carries.
The owner is repeatedly described by reviewers as nice, honest, helpful, and approachable. One customer appreciates being able to ask whether an item is fresh or good quality and says the owner will give an honest answer rather than encourage a purchase. That kind of direct guidance may be especially useful for someone browsing unfamiliar products or deciding what to try. Reviews also mention handcrafted furniture, described by one customer as custom-made and one of a kind. Since the market’s principal category is groceries and the furniture appears in a customer account, shoppers interested in those pieces should ask what is currently available rather than assume the selection is permanent. Together, the product range, personal service, and Vietnamese-inspired decor give the store a character customers notice.
Saigon Market is a good fit for Portland shoppers seeking Asian grocery items, customers curious about balut or kimchi, and visitors who appreciate a small shop where they can speak directly with the owner. It may also suit people looking for a market with a distinctive Vietnamese atmosphere and an assortment that rewards browsing. The published hours list the store as open daily, Monday through Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Because a reviewer reported finding it closed during lunch on particular visits, checking before traveling is sensible, especially when timing matters or when searching for a specific item. With a 4.6 rating from 105 reviews, Saigon Market has earned positive feedback from many customers while reviews also offer practical notes about stock and hours. For a Portland grocery stop, the best approach is to browse, ask about freshness and availability, and let the owner help point you toward what is in stock.

This market has anything and everything you would ever need. They even have hand crafted furniture that are all custom made and one of a kind.
The owner of the store is a very nice and honest person. He will never sells you something that is not fresh or not good quality. Just ask him, he will honestly tell you if you should buy those items or not. I like his stores, especially baluts eggs
Owner seems like a nice guy, I like the decor and the piece of Vietnam this store brings with it
Tiny shop packed with a good assortment of products. But they do not stock fresh meat here. You'll have to go to a bigger shop. The owner is a very nice and helpful person.
Heard rave reviews about their kimchi, so I visited on four separate occasions to pick some up. Two of these visits they were closed during lunch. The other two visits they were out of kimchi. How can you afford to be out of a top selling item with a minimum of one month shelf life? I left my number with the owner over a month ago. Still waiting for that phone call.
