SGI is an amazing place to connect with your best version and also other kind souls!
I’ve been coming here since I was a baby, and I absolutely love the familial environment! Everyone is always so happy, kind, and interested in what you’re doing. This building holds a lot of memories for me since childhood, and I always love to come back. Plus, there is an amazing diversity of cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicities. Thus, you get a wide range of ideas, ways of thinking, and perspectives. Also, with such a diverse group of people, you also have really diverse meetings, where you sometimes have Afro Cuban dancing, Japanese Taiko drumming, Buddhist rap, and even salsa dancing.
Wonderful, welcoming people from all ethnicities and walks of life, practicing a progressive and active movement for world peace, based on Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism. Walk into the desk and someone will welcome you with a big smile. The building is historic and has a great bookstore! Hang out and talk to the people at the front desk about the practice!
Does anyone know why the San Francisco SGI remains closed ? The WHO have declared (with hope) an end to the Covid emergency globally. Yet the voice message reasons it remains closed due to Covid.- Update August 2024 - you should close this centre if you are not going to open it up to members and practitioners. It’s a waste of money for the organisation.
