At the same time, customer reviews show a mixed picture in a few areas. While many people appreciate the low prices and selection, some reviews mention concerns about freshness in certain products, as well as cleanliness and odors near the meat and seafood section. That feedback is important for anyone deciding where to shop, and it suggests that experiences may vary depending on what you are buying and when you visit. Overall, SM Sunset Supermarket remains a recognizable local option in San Francisco, CA for shoppers seeking affordable Asian groceries, everyday ingredients, and a convenient neighborhood market with long daily hours.

Bought a pack of short ribs today and see a piece in bottom that’s in different color; which is a really really old jx meat. Also saw passed dated frozen seafood in frozen area. Very disappointed at this place.

There's a great selection here...half the items in the store, I wouldn't know what to do with 😂 Low prices on great produce. …

Not the freshest products but good enough for quick pick and go. Definitely the store needs some deep cleaning as the smell can get you esp around the meat/seafood section. They do have packaged produces with label “Pre-packaged due to Covid- 19” which doesn’t make sense since they have other openly displayed produces! I got few packaged tomatoes, its hit or miss since some of them were almost gone bad and the other bag was perfectly fine. Make sure to check expiration date on some of their items.

It's your typical Asian market. My group went in to get something to drink but any American sodas were limited to coke, Sprite, and diet coke. There were more choices of alcohol than sodas. Nothing really special about the market as it's comparable to any other Asian market I've been in. I do recommend the flavored sparkling drinks though.
