St. Roch Market is a food court at 2381 St Claude Ave, in New Orleans, Louisiana, serving as a flexible place to explore food and drinks in the Bywater and Marigny corridor. Rather than centering on one menu, the market brings different vendors and pop-ups together under one roof, so a group can choose a variety of dishes and meet at the same table. Visitors describe the interior as open and bright, with high ceilings and classic columns, and many appreciate its lively, distinctive character. The market has a 4.6-star rating across 3,775 reviews, offering a useful snapshot of how diners have responded to the experience.
The variety is a central reason customers return. Reviews mention raw oysters, toasted sandwiches with Caesar salad, Mediterranean dishes, Thai pop-up cooking, laksa, and catfish pumpkin curry. These are examples guests have highlighted, not a guarantee that every item is available on every visit; vendors and pop-ups may vary. One diner singled out the laksa as a standout, while another praised a distinctive catfish-and-pumpkin curry. The range makes St. Roch Market a good option when companions want different kinds of food, or when you would rather browse several offerings than settle on a single cuisine. Guests also mention happy-hour specials and drinks as part of the mix.
Coffee is another reason some visitors stop in. A customer who regularly comes for CR Coffee Shop praised its mocha for being smooth, rich, and consistent, calling the coffee shop one of the best in New Orleans. That makes the market worth considering for a coffee break as well as a full meal, depending on which vendors are operating. The atmosphere is described as charming and energetic, with an upscale food-hall feel, but the experience can be busy. Reviewers note that table space may be limited at peak times, so it can help to be flexible about where and when you sit.
St. Roch Market suits visitors exploring the Bywater or Marigny, friends looking for a shared meal with plenty of choice, and diners curious about independent vendors and changing pop-ups. It can also work for a casual coffee stop, a drink, or a meal built from several different preferences. As with any multi-vendor market, selection, portions, and availability can differ; one reviewer, for example, found a Mediterranean portion small, while still praising its quality. For a practical plan, check current vendor offerings before you go and allow for a lively room, especially during busy periods. At 2381 St Claude Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117, St. Roch Market offers a local gathering place where the appeal lies in its variety, the character of the space, and the chance to discover something beyond a standard single-menu meal.

St. Roch Market has become one of my go-to spots in the Bywater/Marigny corridor. I usually come for CR Coffee Shop, which easily ranks as one of the best in New Orleans. Their mocha is smooth, rich, and always consistent. Inside, the space feels open and bright with classic columns, high ceilings, and soft lighting that makes it easy to settle in for a few hours. There’s also a new Caribbean spot—Dunkanoo—serving flavorful pasta and creative dishes that make this market perfect for lunch runs. You’ll also find Mediterranean bites, sandwiches, and cocktails at the bar for happy hour. I like to grab a seat by the large windows or lounge on the leather couches in the back when I’m taking a break. The restrooms are clean and easily accessible toward the rear. On nice days, the patio seating gives you a front-row view of St. Claude Avenue’s energy. Overall, this is one of those rare places that fits any mood—coffee, work, lunch, or a relaxed evening drink. A neighborhood staple that deserves to be around for a long time.
Despite being called a food court, the food here is of exceptional quality. Many of the vendors sell very unique dishes. For example, the catfish pumpkin curry is one of a kind. The laksa here is also the best I've had outside of Malaysia and Singapore. Table space peak times can be limited.
A good mix of food, happy hour specials and drinks. A bit of a crazy experience... I went to refill my drink and a random guy walking past my plate started eating my food thinking I was finished.
This is a high-end food court with charm and vibes in abundance. I had half a dozen raw oysters and my dining companion had a toasted sandwich with superb caesar salad, which gives an impression of the range available here. I loved it.
There are a couple gems here the best by far is Dolma which has consistently good Mediterranean but portions are small. Theres also a Thai chef that runs a few of the popups and when she’s working the food is amazing. I don’t think locals have any clue what they are missing and live to trash talk about this spot. It’s unusually better than the greasy fried food in this area.
