Star Kitchen is a Chinese restaurant in Denver, Colorado, at 2917 W Mississippi Ave, Denver, CO 80219. The restaurant is especially known in customer reviews for Cantonese, Hong Kong-style dim sum, with guests describing fresh, flavorful dishes and a menu that works well for a relaxed lunch. Its 4.5-star rating across 4,373 reviews reflects a large base of customer feedback, while individual experiences naturally vary. For visitors looking for dim sum in Denver, Star Kitchen offers both cart service and items ordered from the menu.

Dim sum is a central part of the experience. Customers describe servers bringing carts around and offering plates when a fresh batch is available, so diners can choose dishes as they come by. Reviews call the prices reasonable and mention that the meal is generally served family-style, making it a good option for sharing a variety of dishes with family or friends. If you prefer to choose from a written menu, reviewers note that menu items are available too; you do not have to rely only on what appears on the carts.

Several specific dishes stand out in customer comments. The baked coconut bun and taro buns receive enthusiastic praise for their soft, warm texture, while crab fish maw soup is another recommended choice. Diners also mention the food’s fresh taste and authentic Cantonese and Hong Kong-style character. Since selections on the carts can depend on what is freshly available, the menu can be useful when you have a particular dish in mind. If you are dining with a group, it may help to ask staff whether a dish is intended for sharing or is suitable to order individually.

The atmosphere described by reviewers is friendly and efficient, with some guests reporting prompt seating and quick service during lunch. Star Kitchen may suit dim sum fans, people hoping to sample several dishes in one meal, and groups comfortable sharing plates. It is also a spot visitors have considered worth a drive while in Denver, according to one review. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the restaurant is closed Wednesday. Check the current hours before visiting, especially around holidays or when planning a special trip.

This was hands down one of the best Cantonese Hong-Kong style Chinese food experiences we’ve had! Everything we tried was delicious and tasted fresh, flavorful, and authentic. The baked coconut bun and taro buns were absolute standouts. The soft, warm texture practically melts in your mouth, and the flavors were incredible. We also loved the variety of dumplings and dim sum plates. There were so many delicious options to choose from that it was hard to pick a favorite!. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the service was impressively fast. From the food to the service, everything came together to make this such a wonderful dining experience. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more!

great authentic dimsum with dimsum service (so when they have a fresh batch they ask if you want to order a plate right then and there from the cart of what they have) and very very reasonable price!! as a chinese restaurant everything is family style. i recommend the crab fish maw soup. They have straightforward friendly service. You flag a server down to order which is normal for me in Chinese restaurants which is why I think some other reviews here are more disgruntled. Its just so a server is not wasting time if you are not ready to order.

Everything looked and tasted authentic and delicious! 2nd time coming back on vacation and it's definitely worth the drive. Staff is friendly and fast. If you can't find something on the carts that you're willing to try, they have menu items too.

My husband and I came here for lunch on a Friday morning shortly after it opened, we were sat immediately. As someone who is Asian and grew up around typical Asian restaurants I thought that the dim sum was pretty good. I’ve definitely had …

This place was alright. It could be clearer regarding whether specific dishes are fine to order for yourself or if they are supposed to be shared. The group I was with was a little confused. Food was pretty decent overall but some in the group claimed it was among their favorite dim sum in the Denver metro and it wasn’t for me.
