Tai's Vietnamese Food is a Vietnamese restaurant at 1835 N 12th St, Philadelphia, PA 19122, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Customer reviews describe a casual, convenient spot near campus, with a menu that reaches beyond Vietnamese favorites to include familiar rice-plate dishes and a range of drinks. The restaurant has a 4.1-star rating from 55 reviews, giving local diners a useful snapshot of other customers’ experiences while leaving room for individual tastes. Banh mi is one of the specialties customers mention, including a banh mi special that has inspired repeat visits. One reviewer enjoys its overall flavor but finds it sweeter than they prefer, wishing for more peppers to balance the sweetness with spice and freshness. That candid feedback is helpful if you like a sweeter sandwich or prefer to adjust the balance with extra heat. The tofu hoagie is another standout in customer comments: one regular says they order it often and have introduced friends to it. Together, these reviews suggest that the menu has appealing meat-free sandwich choices, though preferences about seasoning and sweetness can differ.
For a warm, filling meal, the tofu vegetable pho has earned especially enthusiastic praise. A reviewer describes a bowl with tofu, cabbage, bell pepper, onion, and broth, calling it an exceptional noodle soup. Other customer favorites include bourbon chicken, beef and broccoli, and sesame chicken, which offer familiar alternatives for diners who want a rice or entrée-style meal. Feedback on rice dishes is mixed: one reviewer says some portions have only a few pieces of the main ingredient. Checking the menu and choosing according to your appetite and preferences can help you find the right fit.
Drinks are another reason customers stop by. Reviews mention a variety of boba drinks, tea, and a popular Red Bull lemonade. Opinions on the boba are divided: some customers praise the flavor, sweetness, and generous amount of pearls, while another reports that the pearls can be warm and overcooked. If texture matters to you, that difference in experiences is worth keeping in mind. The range of drinks may make Tai's a convenient option for a beverage alongside lunch or a quick refreshment between campus activities.

sometimes i get the banh mi special here, and i mean overall it's pretty good (i mean i do keep coming back) but i wish it wasn't as ... sweet? i really enjoy banh mi for its mixture of sweet, spiciness, and freshness, but the banh mi here is just really, really sweet. wish they'd add more peppers as well, or at least give a spicy option like hank's. the fried chicken's delicious though, nothing to say there.
So I Typically order the tofu hoagie from Tais which is amazing and I've gotten many friends hooked on it, but I thought that I should try their tofu veggie pho and see how I like it. First of all, it was arguably the best noodle soup I have ever had. Full of tofu, cabbage, bell pepper, onion, and broccoli, as well as the add on sauces, lemon, and Thai basil, it was super filling and made me wish I had more. The broth is light but flavorful and the Thai basil had a bit of an anise and minty flavor go it, but when I added the tomato sauce/base to the soup, the Thai basil became spicy almost. So this dish is one that will fill you up and repeatedly change flavors 10/10 recommend
One of my favorite spots on campus! The bourbon chicken, beef and broccoli and sesame chicken are a few of my favorites. There’s a variety of boba drinks, and the Red Bull lemonade is super popular!
Pretty good but not great. Boba is always warm and overcooked but flavor of tea is good!! I would pick hanks over tais boba any-day. I wouldn’t recommend getting any of the dishes that come over rice as they give you only a few pieces of …
Their boba is 1000/10, and way better thank Hank’s in my opinion. The tea is always just sweet enough and they always put a lot of boba.
