Sign in to reviewWe found a gem! We live in Arizona and haven’t been able to find bean cakes anywhere. Saw a review for Tasty Bakery in San Diego. Said it was close to San Francisco Chinatown food, and since we were in the area, went by to check it out. Hubby has been craving bean cakes and we found them here! We wanted a dozen, but she only had ten left so we bought all ten. We bought a few coconut cakes too. The BBQ pork bun was huge and filled with deliciousness. Bought a couple of coconut custard buns too. I used to get those at a bakery in San Francisco on my way to work. We’d drive to San Diego just to come here for bean cakes!!
i love this place! their coffee and taro cake rolls are my family's personal favorite. its fluffy, flavorful, and not too sweet! they do sell out quick though! so i highly recommend going early unless you want frozen rolls! the cake rolls pair nicely with soymilk. the owners are really friendly and will go to long lengths to search for your desired flavor! 10/10!
This bakery reminds me of your SF Chinatown mom and pop bakery good. They make cakes and all my favorite buns. I love the cocktail buns, pork buns and still need to try their steamed buns. They aren't as pricey as 85* bakery and pretty big size buns. I recommend stopping by and try them out!
Finally we got to visit and see what this bakery offers. Oftentimes, when we want to swing by its already closed by 5pm. Its a small bakery that offers similar breads from what you see at 85' only this one feels more homey than mass produced. Today was specifically looking for mocha cake. However, i found coffee cake so that should be similar. Am also trying the strawberry cake. Wanted to try some cookies next time. No more pork floss during our visit at 4:30pm. But they still have couple of meat pies.
Just go here!!!! old school Chinese bakery they also do some Vietnamese stuff. Had a small conversation with I think the son of the owners. They are Cantonese Vietnamese definitely suggest Vietnamese pâte à choux filled with pork and onion. Beautifully savory and buttery flaky crust heavy on the black pepper just beautiful!
