Deep tissue massage, Thai massage, couples massage, and sports-focused massage are all mentioned by customers who were looking for real relief rather than a routine spa treatment. Several reviews highlight firm, effective pressure and therapists who adjust based on what the body needs. Guests dealing with neck, shoulder, and jaw tension, office-related stiffness, or post-training soreness have described their sessions as especially helpful. Reviews also note that Thai massage can be intense, which is useful for clients who want deeper work and appreciate clear expectations.
Therapists at Thamma Thai Spa are praised for listening, working with purpose, and tailoring sessions to specific problem areas. Ken, in particular, is mentioned by name in multiple reviews for delivering deep tissue and sports massage with exactly the right balance of pressure, control, and effectiveness. That kind of feedback suggests a practice where technique matters and where communication between therapist and guest is taken seriously. The owner is also described as kind, professional, and genuinely concerned about client experience, which adds another layer of trust for first-time visitors.

Sign in to reviewwe went here for a 90 min couples deep tissue and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. the waiting area is so cute and calming and even had a dog employee <3 really set the tone, what a great vibe. the massage therapists were very effective and really worked on some of the zones with more tension from working out. will definitely return!
Went here for a deep tissue massage and had an incredible experience. Ken was my therapist and he was amazing. During my massage, I was thinking of which friends I need to tell about this. I have a lot of neck, shoulder, and jaw tension from office syndrome and TMJ, and I like a very hard massage. I don’t think I’ve ever had a massage this effective (which I wanted). It was focused, strategic bodywork and relaxing. The space is clean and calm, everyone was so sweet, and they give you tea at the end. I’ll definitely be back and will book with Ken again.
Ken is an exceptional massage therapist who really knows what he’s doing. The deep sports massage had exactly the right pressure — firm, intentional, and effective without ever feeling reckless. You can tell he actually listens and adjusts based on what your body needs. The rooms were spotless and had a calming, pleasant scent that set the right tone from the moment you walk in. The whole experience felt clean and professional throughout. Pricing is fair and transparent, especially given the quality of the work. I’ll definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a legitimate sports massage in SF.
I wanted to update my original review after speaking with the owner, who was kind, professional, and genuinely concerned about my experience. I don’t think this was a bad massage, but I do think it’s important to understand that Thai massage can be very intense. I went in after a heavy training session feeling generally tight and fatigued, and the amount of pressure and stretching used ended up making my symptoms significantly worse instead of helping. Looking back, I think my body needed a more calming, recovery-focused approach rather than aggressive stretching and deep pressure. What I’ve learned is that more pressure isn’t always better, and sometimes helping the nervous system relax is more important than trying to force more mobility. My advice is to make sure the style of bodywork matches what your body actually needs and to communicate that clearly beforehand. I appreciate the owner taking the time to discuss my concerns, and I hope sharing my experience helps others make an informed decision.
Great deep tissue and Thai massage! Check in and mark areas you want them to focus on or avoid. Change into slippers. Masseuse uses oil and hot towels.
