Third Culture Bakery Berkeley is a bakery at 2701 Eighth St in Berkeley, CA, where mochi-centered baked goods and coffeehouse-style drinks make for an easy daytime stop. Open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., it works well for people exploring West Berkeley, running nearby errands, or looking for a sweet break to take along. The shop has a 4.6 rating from 753 reviews. Customer feedback often highlights the wide selection of flavors, the chewy character of the pastries, and the relaxed neighborhood setting. It is a practical local option when a standard doughnut or cake-style pastry is not quite what you want.
At the counter, the original mochi muffin is a recurring favorite in customer comments, while the mochi donuts stand out for their many flavor options. Reviews specifically mention Mango Passionfruit, Buko Pandan, and Ube Coconut as memorable donut choices. Brownies are another regularly mentioned treat for visitors who prefer a richer, more familiar baked good. The draw is texture as much as flavor: mochi-based items offer a pleasantly chewy bite that differs from conventional pastries. That makes the bakery a good match for curious dessert fans, people sharing a box with friends, and regulars coming back for a preferred flavor. The range gives first-time visitors an easy reason to try something new.
Drinks can round out a bakery visit without taking attention away from the pastries. Customers mention pairing a Matcha Latte with a mochi donut or brownie, and reviews also refer to the sesame coffee latte, honey cold brew, and matcha passion fruit spritzer. This variety gives Third Culture Bakery Berkeley a place in a morning coffee run, an afternoon pick-me-up, or a dessert-and-drink stop before continuing through Berkeley. Individual drink preferences vary, as they do at any cafe, but the menu offers coffee, matcha, and fruit-forward choices to consider alongside a baked treat. Selecting a pastry first is a simple way to build a pairing around what sounds especially good that day.
Expect a primarily grab-and-go visit rather than a long indoor stay. Reviews note that there is no indoor seating, but describe small sidewalk tables in front of the bakery where guests can sit outside. On a sunny day, this outdoor option suits a calm neighborhood pause with a latte and pastry. The Eighth Street address is convenient for nearby Berkeley residents and visitors seeking distinctive mochi muffins or donuts to enjoy right away or bring home. Whether you arrive for the original mochi muffin, a flavor such as Ube Coconut, or a drink to accompany your treat, visiting during the daily 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. hours keeps the stop straightforward.

Sign in to reviewAmazing drinks and great baked goods! I love to come here for a Matcha Latte and a Mochi Donut or brownie. Even though there is no place to sit inside, there are little tables on the sidewalk in front of the bakery where you can enjoy the sun and the calm neighborhood.
Yummy yummy mochi donuts and muffins! If you’re craving them, then check Third Culture out! So may to choose from. They were all sooooo. Soooo goood! We got the sesame coffee latte to match! I definitely highly recommend them when you’re in the area!!
i got their honey cold brew and matcha passion fruit spritzer. the description for the cold brew is “strong coffee” but the drink tasted like watered down coffee and a crap load of honey. the PFMS was gross too. pretty disappointed considering this is a highly rated spot.
I came here TWO times for quality assurance / to see if I was being fair. Both times were HORRIBLE. Not only is their signature matcha mid & super overrated, the employees are pretty rude, and they forgot my drink so i ended up waiting 17 minutes for my watered down weird tasting synthetic matcha. They basically were just doing nothing and the lack of training was painfully obvious in the way they were interacting or handling their ingredients. Unfortunately, the entire staff was overall very disappointing. have no idea why people even go here… I was super excited to try this place out but none of the drink, food, vibe, or staff was satisfying or good. Would not recommend at all.
Original mochi muffin can’t be beat but their variety of uniquely flavored mochi donuts are everything. Personal favorites are Mango Passionfruit, Buko Pandan and Ube Coconut. Drink menu is also excellent and the staff is incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful. All that with a fun atmosphere and bopping playlist whenever I visit. Couldn’t recommend more! I’ve come here many times to dine in and also catered from them for my wedding and several other special events - the treats are always a hit.
