My doctor is great but calling gets you agents that are unnecessarily brusque and rude. They don't seem like they want to listen nor help.

This review is specifically for the patient care coordinators. Every single call with them they are unhelpful and are unable to point you in the right direction for anything. They kept telling me to call billing or my insurance, but after spending hours of me doing my own digging around I found I should of called the patient estimate program. It's kind of ridiculous that they don't even know the different departments at UCSF that could help you. They're worse than automated systems because they actually give you attitude; I'd much rather talk to a robot. Can't wait until their position is automated because its really a waste of money.

Has been helping me improve my health since 2020. The improvement in service over doctors and offices connected with San Francisco General has been astounding. They treat me like a human being there, despite my addiction issues, and they are very culturally sensitive.

If I could give this place no stars I would. The Doctors are incompetent and everything is so rushed. I have been there four times now and still have not met my doctor and I saw a different doctor for almost every visit. They made mistakes on my heart monitor results and still have not looked at them again. I was assured that a team of doctors studied my results. Well then why were there so many obvious mistakes that no one questioned nor have they looked into it further since my complaints were voiced. They told me I had no need for a chest x-ray when I had all of the symptoms that would trigger the need for one. The doctor tried to tell me that my chest hurt because I was sore. When I asked what symptoms would provoke a chest x-ray he listed them and I had every symptom (they were all also recorded in my chart so he didn't even look at my chart). They give out the wrong information all of the time. You are lucky if you can understand the assistants because their english is so bad. They don't read the chart either. When an assistant asked if I had current pain and I told her yes chest pain (reason for visit) she panicked as if i was having a heart attack and I had to stop her from rushing to get the doctor. The only people in the entire building that consistently do what they are supposed to do are the receptionists. Sadly they cannot run a successful office with the rest of the staff not paying attention to what they are doing. They are still mailing me copies of incorrect information, I have 13 copies of summarized reports that are incorrect when I asked twice for the full reports. They just keep mailing me reports as if that is how their time should be spent. Just doing things instead of actually finding out what the issue is. I wouldn't expect results from this place even if I were dying on their doorstep. The receptionist might do better at saving your life than the doctors.

Appalling billing practices. It’s is virtually impossible to obtain CPT procedure codes prior to your procedure. When I asked the physician assistant for the codes so I could call my insurance to see if it would be covered, she printed out the order, which only had the diagnosis code. Insurance said they needed the CPT code. So I went to the lab and asked them. They said they don’t have it and to call billing. Billing doesn’t answer and either sends you to a voicemail or an automated voice message says they’re busy and to call back later. So I go back to the doctor and ask the front desk if they can give me the CPT codes so I can check with my insurance. They say they don’t have that info and to call billing. What an absolute travesty. This hospital system is an inefficiently run joke. It’s designed so that you will never know whether your insurance will cover your treatment or not. You’re left having to hope and pray that you don’t get billed out of pocket later for thousands of dollars. Disgraceful.
