That balance matters for anyone who wants care that supports both function and confidence, whether the visit is focused on maintenance, repair, or improving the look of a smile.

Many customer comments describe UNO DENTAL SAN FRANCISCO as methodical, detailed, and proactive. Longtime patients say the dentists take an active interest in the health and appearance of their teeth, and several reviews highlight a careful, step-by-step approach during appointments. One recurring theme is communication: patients appreciate being walked through what is wrong, what treatment is recommended, and how the process works. For people who feel nervous about dental visits, that kind of clear explanation can make a big difference and help the experience feel more manageable.

Based on reviews, the office is a fit for patients looking for services such as cleanings, crowns, and other restorative or cosmetic dental care in San Francisco. The practice may appeal to busy professionals and local residents who need weekday availability, especially because the office offers extended hours on Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM, with additional appointments on Thursday and Friday. That schedule can be useful for people trying to fit dental care into a full workweek.

Like any established dental office, patient experiences can vary, and some reviews mention concerns about service consistency or office operations. Still, the stronger pattern across feedback points to dentists who are skilled, personable, and focused on explaining care rather than rushing people through treatment. For those comparing options for a cosmetic dentist in San Francisco, CA, UNO DENTAL SAN FRANCISCO stands out as a practice that many locals know for detailed care, a practical weekday schedule, and an approach that aims to support both oral health and a polished smile.

I’ve been with Uno for well over 10 plus years. Here’s the deal - they take an active interest and concern in the health and appearance of your teeth. They are methodical, detailed, and proactive. The two brothers who run the operation are gifted dentists who have ensured my comfort in any procedure and who genuinely care about me as a patient and person. My gorgeous smile is because of them and yes flossing!!! Highly recommended! My relationship with them as dentists is a long term investment in my health and smile.

Absolutely fantastic. Just finished my third appointment with Dr Kandar, and he’s my favorite dentist that I’ve had. This first appointment was a cleaning, where they told me that my mouth had problems. Unlike other “drill and fill” dentists, Dr Kandar walked me through what was wrong, how we fix it, and how to keep it fixed. Every time I’ve had to have a cavity filled, or any kind of work in my mouth, dentists have always had to stop because I stop being numb. I’ve told this to other dentists, and it still happened every time. Not this time with Dr Kandar. He listened to me and had me take anti-anxiety meds, gave me a little nitrous, and a ton of novicane. I’d never had a more pleasant experience in the dentist chair. I have to go back in a couple weeks, and for the first time in my life, I’m not dreading going. I can’t say enough about Dr Kandar and UNO. Found my dentist for life.

The way this business is run is bananas. I had open, unrestricted, and unsupervised access to the entire floor. Not a human in sight. No locked cabinets. All the medical equipment unlocked. Computers were all open and unlocked with calendars for the dentist(s) open. All customer service is handled by AI. After giving the AI my name, DOB, and address, it texted me a form to fill out where I had to input this same information 3 additional times. When the form wouldn’t submit, I called the AI again and asked for a representative enough times that it said someone would reach out and then ended the call. Then I got a text.. from the AI. It said to lock in my appt it needed insurance information (which I couldn’t submit because the web form is broken). So I left work early to get to the office before it closed so I could hand it to them directly. Doors were locked before closing time. When I texted the number, I got a response hours later saying the staff went home early. So I went in 30 min before my appointment the following day and there were no humans anywhere to be found. I’m not sure if this place is fraudulent or just poorly run but there’s a reason you can get in next day and you should strongly consider why that is before booking here

I had a cleaning here in Sep 2025. A few days after the cleaning, a crown on my back molar broke. I’m unsure if the two events were related, but it was odd. I messaged Dr. Kandar for an emergency procedure as the tooth was extremely sensitive. He had me come in for an emergency crown (not even temporary). Upon my next visit, he said that I had cavities that formed on the affected tooth while it was in the old crown. Based on this diagnosis, he proceeded to fill the cavities. The procedure was the most painful dental procedure I’ve ever experienced. He used local anesthetic, but it was not administered properly and did not mask the pain at all. It felt more like a torture session. He then put on a temp crown. I gave it a couple of months to see if the tooth would heal from the trauma, but it did not. In the meantime, I was charged thousands of dollars in fees and when I requested an itemized receipt multiple times, I was met with no response. I ultimately sought out two second opinions and finally solved the tooth issue in a painless manner at a different provider. The bottom line is Dr. Kandar is not well equipped to sustain a business. He doesn’t communicate and does not staff his office to deliver an appropriate level of customer service. In addition, he also is not transparent enough in his billing practices. I hate to write a bad review about a small business but I have reached out multiple times over phone and email to resolve the issue or even understand the charges that far exceed any other provider for similar services and have not gotten a single response in over three months. The final straw was when I asked this month to send the x-rays to my new dentist after receiving no response was charged automatically a fee for sending the x-rays. I’ve reached out to understand what this is for and how this was authorized as well and of course, have not received a response either.

I have been a patient of the Uno Dental San Francisco office for the past year and a half or so and up until the past 6 months I had no complaints. The visits were long and expensive but this is dental care in San Francisco so nothing entirely unexpected. Within the last 6 months the quality of care I have received has dropped dramatically. I used to call the office and would be able to speak to a real life receptionist who would answer my questions and schedule my appointments. Now Uno Dental is using some kind of AI assistant to answer all their phone calls and when you give your personal phone number to get a call back no one ever calls. The same goes for all email correspondence. I have sent countless emails with very few replies. The sparse replies I do receive, seem to be AI written and don't actually answer my questions about billing or scheduling appointments. I have been going through the Invisalign process and am currently on my last few sets of aligners. But during my last checkup appointment Dr. Kandar wanted to schedule a time to re-shape some of my molars to better fit the final retainer. During that appointment I asked for an outline of what that treatment would cost and a written summary of exactly what would be carried out during that appointment. I never received those summaries and when I called or emailed the office to request more information I never received any response. The communication has gotten so bad that I physically showed up to the office to speak with Dr. Kandar. After waiting almost 2 hours to even speak with him he was deflective and continued to try and avoid taking responsibility for all my complaints. We talked for probably 15 minutes and he assured me that he would personally email me back and speak with the team about the lack of communication I have received. That was 3 weeks ago and I have still not heard from him or anyone at Uno Dental. I get the sincere impression that he may be the only person working at the office and is just lying about having any sort of support team other than the useless AI receptionist. The bottom line is that I would highly recommend NOT doing any business with Uno Dental. They do not communicate effectively, they make patients wait egregious amounts of time, and are not upfront about treatment costs.
