Sign in to reviewStopped by this morning for some Pandesal and was delighted to see the new refresh and wonderful rebranding. With a minor rearrangement, new logos, packaging and food labels, it’s nice to see this forward progress and effort that this location has made. Maybe the next gen is taking over but it’s definitely a great step forward. As usual, service is still top notch pinoy hospitality, baked goods are still consistently tasty, and the morning “ulam” offerings on the warmers seem more than usual. Support local businesses especially our own so that we can continue to grow our culture and thrive in our communities.
We went here to try this corn bread and cheese custard muffin. I don't know what it's called but it was as unique and delicious as I'd hoped. We also thought these use sweet rolls were good, but they were definitely sweet. They tasted to me like Portuguese sweet rolls I grew up eating, but the Ube puree gives it a unique spin. My husband tried the pizza pocket, and the sweetness of their bread tasted strange to us in that context but if you love hot pockets this might be your gourmet version of that.
On 10/4 I ordered 50 pieces of Turon not only the banana filling is 1/8 of an inch, the rest of the Turon has no filling. This is intensional as to fool the customer in thinking you’re getting your money’s worth. I will not order anything at this store nor as to recommend it to others. Again, they’re intension is to fool/deceive the customer.
Service from Ritz and Hervinn - 5 stars. I was greeted and served right away. These two young men are very pleasant and served with a smile. I purchased two 2-item combos plus desserts. The containers are the smallest I've seen. It's understandable as they have to pay rent and payroll. First combo with pancit: Pancit - 1 star. Very dry taste with only a few slivers of carrots. It had a soapy taste. Fried Bangus - 1 star. It must be old because it was so chewy like a rubber band. Beef Bistek - 4 stars. I like that there was no floating grease but it lacks calamansi or lemon. Second Combo with rice: Mongo - 2 stars. It had a soapy taste. Beef Picadillo - 1 star. Free Tinola soup - taste is 5 stars. After I ate the pancit, picadillo and mongo, my lips became swollen. They must have used an ingredient that triggered that... perhaps the cooking oil??? Chicken Empanada - 5 stars. Ube bibingka - 4 stars. Ube buko pie - 5 stars. I truly hope there was no purple food coloring (Food coloring is bad for health). Total purchase $44.70 I sincerely wish this Valerio's 1979 continued success but they need to hire a better cook.
Went in to buy dinner and came out with cheeseballs, cheese rolls, beef empanadas, and two entrée of menudos and green beans/tofu with rice
