Sign in to reviewSpoiled strawberry cake 4/3/2026 went into the bakery in the afternoon a woman helped me select my Cake by answering some questions. There was one really pretty cake with very fresh flowers when we brought it to the restaurant and cut into it and took a bite automatically you could taste that the berries were very old with a pungent smell and old taste, the white cake was on the dry side as well. The small cake was $45.00 they wanted to throw it away I brought a slice home to pull the berries out to show google reviewing . Customers, this was the white cake with strawberry whipped cream and old strawberries. There was very little strawberries as well in the cake, but I’m glad because they were very old. They were very squishy as well. It’s spoiled the whole cake! This bakery actually owes us a refund if they see this review. I highly recommend fresh cakes from Peter’s Bakery after this experience. Also will be our last, Safeway has better white cake in their bakery sad to say it’s the honest truth.
This place makes great Vietnamese cakes but the pandan waffles can use some better packaging. Paid $5 for two waffles and they tossed it in a plastic bag. It was soggy and wet from the condensation by the time I got to the car.
So many cake varieties! It all look great, but hard to tell what they are if you’re not Vietnamese. The smell of the bakery is very homey, especially fragrant when they making a pandan waffle. I think it’s quite a staple in the area for cakes. The mini macarons are esp good - guava and coffee are the best flavors imho. And you can get some Gong pastries here (his famous kake is available today!)
Van’s Bakery has been part of our community for over 30 years, baking not just cakes, but memories. From birthdays to weddings, to everyday sweet treats, their desserts have been woven into so many life's joyful moments. But what they did for our family was truly touching. When my cousin tried to order a multi-tiered cake for her dad’s 100th birthday, the owners gently refused payment. They insisted on gifting the cake as their way of honoring his incredible milestone. We were deeply touched. In that moment, we weren’t just customers. We felt like family. Van’s Bakery runs their business with heart, and their kindness reminds us what community is all about. Thank you for the last 30 years, and cheers to many more to come! 💕👏💐 @vanbakerysj
Went on a Saturday morning to get a birthday mocha cake. Staff was friendly and cake was ok and dry. The have other cake options such as Ube and Pandan flavored.
