A hidden gem for anyone who loves bold, authentic Southeast Asian flavors Wajan delivers one of the most flavorful and authentic Indonesian dining experiences in Portland. From the moment you walk in, the space feels warm and intimate, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. The standout here is definitely the food. Everything is packed with depth and bold seasoning—especially dishes like nasi campur, beef rendang, and satay. The spices are layered beautifully, and the sambal adds a real kick without overpowering the dish. It feels like genuine Indonesian comfort food done with care. Service is consistently friendly and approachable, making the experience even more pleasant. The staff are helpful with recommendations, especially if you’re new to Indonesian cuisine. Portions are not oversized, but the quality and flavor make every dish worth it. It’s the kind of place you come back to when you’re craving something rich, spicy, and satisfying.
I had my rehearsal dinner at Wajan and they went above and beyond in making sure it was the best rehearsal dinner ever. I reached out via email and Feny was extremely gracious, offering their back patio to let our party have some privacy. …
Amazing food, great service, fun ambience and atmosphere. We hadn’t tried Indonesia food before and we loved our experience here. We got the Nasi Campur with the fried chicken (ayam goreng), the Bakmie, and the cenil. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the Tempe that came with the nasi campur was seasoned really well. Overall everything was very flavorful and we’d highly recommend the place to anyone! On a random side note the water was also surprisingly good and the bathroom was clean. Parking wasn’t too hard as there was a not very busy side street next to it.
