Sign in to reviewI was in the Mission Bay area checking out SPARK Social food truck park and decided to try the chicken salad and iced Thai tea from Wicked Star. It was decent. It’s good enough, but nothing spectacular. There’s park bench seating nearby, so you can enjoy your food outdoors.
The bestie and I have continued the tradition of trying every food truck before the Giants games on Tuesdays, and this past Tuesday 6/24 around 4:30p, we ventured to Wicked Star. There’s touchscreens to order on like most places, easy to use. I ordered the Pork belly with lime bowl, it was ready pretty quick less than 5mins, more people showed up after us and they did seem busy the time we were there. My buddy got the crab fried rice and veggie egg rolls as they were out of the shrimp and crab(Boo!). We sat to eat (I always bring my leftovers in to the game) and I was slightly disappointed. The portion was a good amount of pork belly, but honestly not that great, it was pretty chewy/fatty and not in a good way. I also asked for extra spicy, I could have definitely used more but I understand everyone has a different tolerance for spicy so maybe they erred on the side of caution. Rice and salad was good. Now the egg rolls, hmmmph, they looked good but small, and when I tried one it just was bland, the sauce they come with was great, but I had to dip it for the two bites I had. I didn’t try the rice so can only go off my friend saying he liked it and he didn’t have any leftovers. I thought it looked a little skimpy on the crab. Cost wise, menu prices are listed in my photos, my meal (no drink or extras) was $17.83, so pretty much average cost for a meal, but cheaper than what I’d spend inside Oracle Park. I’ll try the place again eventually but I’m not rushing back.
While in Spark Social in Mission Bay SF, we tried fire chicken grilled bowl and it was good. It could have been more spicy. But overall good.
Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: A decent option in the food park. The extended review... Food: Pork Belly with Lime - 3/5 - The flavor of the dish was standard fare. I would say I could use a bit more pork belly from a portion stand point. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 4/5 - It's part of the food truck park so lots of seating options around.
Not sure why they have a 3.1 rating. Food was pretty delicious!
