Ao Dai Thanh Thuy

I had my ao dai (also my husband’s) custom-made by Chị Thanh Thủy and I loved it so much! I felt so pretty wearing it and got so many compliments. ☺️ I live in Texas but couldn’t find anyone nearby who made ao dai that looked good to me. I was very specific in what I wanted, and her designs fit all the check marks (beautiful and feminine but has a touch of sexiness, classy but also modern enough not to look out-dated, has beautiful lace details and a train which makes it more bridal). When I found Chị Thanh Thủy, I knew I had to fly to California for one of her designs. She was very sweet and helped me choose a design and fabric color that would look good on me. I read some reviews that said she came off as rude. I think that she’s very direct (a typical Vietnamese auntie trait lol), which may come off as rude, but I appreciated her honesty. For instance, my skin tone is tan, so she told me the original shade of nude I considered would not look good on me. I’m also pretty short, and she was honest that a certain neck line (the one I ended up choosing) would help elongate me. She was right on both counts. Since I live in Texas, she took my measurements and mailed the ao dai to me. My first ao dai had an issue with it, but she didn’t hesitate to make me another one and even shipped it overnight (costly!) so that I would receive it in time for my bridal portraits. To me, that is great costumer service. She was definitely worth the trip to Westminster! 10/10 recommend. I’ve referred Chị Thanh Thủy to a lot of people and will continue doing so!

If you are looking for a beautifully made Ai Dai, look no further. We drove from Utah to get our Ao Dai made and were not disappointed. Top notch customer service, high quality, and accommodating. I was leaving the next day and she even rushed to make a loose fitting/mock up so I could come back the next day to ensure that it fits right. If you know anything about Ao Dai and the Vietnamese culture, they are made to fit to your body. I specifically went here because I’m shorter and would be considered plus sized. I was self conscious going in but she was extremely friendly, and patient, even though there were many people in the store as well. She only asks you about your weight and whether you plan on losing weight because most brides will intentionally lose weight between now and the wedding, and ao dai are not forgiving. They are tailored to YOUR BODY. The question is asked so she can tailor it accordingly. I made the mistake of telling her my actual wedding date instead of when the bridals will be (2 weeks apart). I updated her with this information several weeks later and asked her if there was any way she can meet the new deadline. She was super accommodating and overnighted it to us. We just received it this morning! Will be updating with pictures from the bridal shoot. I cannot recommend her enough.

For my wedding, I rented a beautiful red ao dai for myself and had a custom-made ao dai in soft gold color for my mom. We received so many compliments on the wedding day. Chi Thanh Thuy was amazing !!! I flew into Cali from NJ to see her. I was only in Cali for 48hrs. She made a custom dress for me (bride), my mom, and my now husband in 18 hrs. We flew home with all the ao dai !! I got my mom on the phone to get her measurements and Chi Thanh Thuy was guiding my mom what to measure. The ao dai fits amazing.

I needed an ao dai for my wedding Tea Ceremony and found Thanh Thuy through Yelp. I pretty much knew what kind of ao dai I wanted already (Pinterest shoutout here) and it was easy to communicate to Thuy to bring it to life! Her work is impeccable and she makes great suggestions and adds her own touches to truly make sure you look the best. Once she measured me and we finished the initial appointment, the ao dai was done in a few weeks. I went back to try it on and it fit PERFECT. Literally no additional alterations needed - that's unheard of! Everyone commented on how beautiful and well made my ao dai was on my wedding day. We also had Thuy make a coordinating ao dai for my now-husband, 2 ao dai for my mother-in-law, and she also made me a qi pao from brocade fabric that my grandmother gave me. According to my mother-in-law, her prices are great, too, considering the quality of her work. Thuy has basically become a family friend of ours and we will go to her for all our dress needs from now on. Thank you, Thuy!
