Dr Lee is caring, compassionate, and so very knowledgeable. He did an excellent job with my hip replacement surgery and was also able to mostly even out my legs of two different lengths. Bonus! I was home that evening. His team is also outstanding and they work well together. Dr Lee is a clear communicator and realistic based on his extensive experience. My recovery continues to go very well and I am so very grateful. (Photo is of me just out of surgery in the recovery room.)

Had a great last minute appointment! 1) I received a call after making appt. Which was great because I could explain why I was coming in. 2) they asked if I could come in earlier which I could. So that was even better. 3) my check in was fast and I was called within 5 mins. Of sitting down. 4) my visit was quick and results were quickly delivered. Dr was professional and helpful. She sounded sincere and not rushed. 5) Rx was equally quick. No lines. 6) Odd that they called my name on the speaker but at least it was fast. 7) my only problem was I did not get my discount as an employee of KP for my otc items.

The postpartum care at Kaiser Permanente San Leandro was unacceptable. My sister-in-law had a C-section and, just six hours after major abdominal surgery, was expected to care for an inconsolable newborn with minimal support from the night shift nurses. Each time we asked for help, the nurses responded as though we were inconveniencing them. They would reluctantly enter the room and question why I, as her sister-in-law, was not handling the situation myself. My sister and I are there to learn from them, not me, I was not born with answers. I am not a nurse. I did not go to school to learn how to interpret newborn cues, troubleshoot breastfeeding, or help a baby latch. My sister-in-law was recovering from surgery, in significant pain, and trying to care for her first child. This is precisely why postpartum nurses exist. The purpose of a postpartum stay is to help new mothers learn how to feed, soothe, and care for their newborns while recovering physically and emotionally. Instead, my sister-in-law was made to feel like a burden for asking for basic assistance. To make matters worse, she does not speak English fluently. The nurses were often condescending when speaking with her directly, but their tone changed immediately when I, a California native and fluent English speaker, stepped in. That difference in treatment was impossible to ignore. What I witnessed was not an isolated bad interaction. It appeared to reflect a deeper problem with the culture on the postpartum night shift. Patients recovering from surgery should never be made to feel guilty for asking for help with a newborn who is less than 24 hours old. These nurses are paid to care for mothers and babies during one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. If they are unwilling to provide compassionate, hands-on support, they should not be working in postpartum care. Kaiser Permanente San Leandro needs to take a hard look at the conduct and attitude of its postpartum night shift nurses. The behavior we experienced was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.

This was my first time meeting Doctor PATEL… She was amazing. She was attentive, kind, compassionate, caring curious and very thorough. Also Adriana, who is the medical assistant was great as was Monet who gave me my injection this was my first time coming to San Leandro, Kaiser after having gone to Oakland and Alameda Kaiser for decades… I’m so happy I made the switch!

I am a 36 year kaiser employee and have seen my share of doctors. My husband and I saw her for a consultation and I have to tell you, she was one of the BEST doctors we have come across in a long time. she was kind. compassionate. knowledgeable and truly made my husband feel heard and cared about. We left our appointment feeling so positive that we were going to be cared for and feeling secure in her hands. She goes beyond any high metric Kaiser can measure patient care on.
